Fred And Paulette

Fred And Paulette

.

.
I spend a lot of time thinking about the good friends we had.
Reminiscing all the fun times we had and sometimes the bad,
This poem today presents my memories about Paulette and Fred,
It’s been a while since I’ve seen them so I hope they’re well read.

Fred And Paulette

.

I first met Fred when he came to our house to talk to my wife Pam.
Pam worked with his wife at Hain’s Flowers and he was in a jam.
His wife Paulette had left saying she was never coming back to him.
He was so sad he asked Pam to talk to Paulette to help both of them.

Following the talk, they got back together again and Fred was elated,
After that, Pam was credited with saving his marriage or so he stated.
We started clogging about 1985 with Oklahoma Landrush cloggers,
Paulette also clogged with them so she became a friend to this blogger.

Fred also started clogging with us somewhere along the way,
So we kept crossing paths as we pursued clogging in those days.
We started Miscues and the Cuties clog group about 1989 or so,
Along about 1993, we were short handed at May Fest, you know.

Fred and Paulette danced with us at May Fest In street clothes. Shortly after this we voted them in as members..

Fred and Paulette joined us from the audience to help us out.
Later, we asked them to join Miscues and the Cuties with no doubts.
And they became our compadres dancing with us all the time.
We traveled together and became close clog dancing so fine.

Miscues and the Cuties danced all over North East Oklahoma and South East Kansas. Paulette and Fred usually traveled with us together to all our exhibitions.

After years dancing together, Pam and I started a group in Bartlesville,
Called Country Rhythm for local clogging at home, what a thrill.
Fred and Paulette were charter members dancing here at home.
We still did many exhibitions with Miscues, as they had really grown.

Rhythm Aces competition team was formed and they were with us too,
Having fun as we worked up the competition routines that we did do.
We had a fun group of people dancing together and it was a ball,
We did very well for old farts competing with young ones and all.

The Rhythm Aces including Fred and Paulette had so much fun it’s hard to put into words. Great group with high ideals.

Occasionally, we had a party for our groups down in our basement,
I can remember when Fred and Linda became our entertainment.
They had had a few and Fred got down on the floor like a horse.
Linda got on his back and rode him while spurring him of course.

Giddy Up Fred. Come on Linda, take it easy with those Spurs..

I recall when we were at Branson for clog competition at the OutBack,
We went out to eat and Paulette was facing away showing her back.
She kept ordering beer and Fred and I kept pouring hers into ours,
She said with a smile, boy that beer is going down good this hour.

.

.

.
I can’t forget that country line dance that Gary and I wrote one day,
We named it the “Fred Shuffle” just for Paulette’s Fred for play.
That dance became Rhythm Aces trademark that we did on the go,
It was always so fun, and everyone that saw it just loved it so.

The Fred Shuffle became the Rhythm Aces trademark. We did it everywhere and anywhere we went. What fun we had.

Over the years, we became close friends and spent Much time together,
I think I will retain memories of our good times always and forever.
It’s a shame we grow older and don’t get around too much anymore,
Paulette and Fred, I’d like to be back out there clogging some more.

.

.

It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Paulette and Fred the last time,
We used to run into them at a restaurant in town which was fine.
We would reminisce and talk some about good old times we had,
Acting kind of silly and sometimes perhaps just a little bit bad.
