Cutsie Shiner Bach

.

The loss of a family pet can be a very devastating event,
You love them so much, and then to heaven they are sent.
The poem recalls some things about our dog named Cutsie,
That we recently lost to old age and can no longer see.

Cutsie Shiner Bach

.

Once upon a time, there was a couple named Pam and Bill.
They lived in a nice home in the small town of Bartlesville.
With a small white Shih Tzu dog named Cutsie Shiner Bach.
She was by far the cutest little dog on the entire block.

.

We picked up Cutsie as a fluffy little white ball of fur on the run,
In the spring when the flowers were blooming in the year 2001.
She was so soft she felt like a warm ball of fluffy goose down,
With so much energy she loved to play in the house all around.

.

As she grew a little older, we took her for long walks every day,
Her back legs were longer than her front, so it was downhill all the way.
She pranced as she walked with her feet going much faster than ours.
She loved her walks and marked her territory with her pee showers.

.

She had a full wardrobe of coats for when the weather was cold.
She loved to wear bright colors as she was just a lady I’m told.
One of the things she loved to do very much was going out on car trips.
She would stick her head out of the window and let her fur flip.

.

Cutsie could tell that we loved all our grandchildren very much,
So she loved them also and they adored her soft fur touch,
Each time they came to visit she ran to see the them to say hello,
And they in turn stroked her back and talked to her soft and mellow.

.

In the evenings when we were sitting in our recliner easy chairs,
She would get in my chair, lay between my legs, and stay there.
She could see all the home action from this high point of view,
And she would stay right there for the night until we were through.

.

While in my chair, I often played with her with animal puppets so real.
She attacked them with fire in her eyes, biting them with much zeal.
We both had a ball playing with the wild puppet animals together,
Then she rested there in my lap just as light as a goose feather.

.

She had her own bed right there in the floor of our cozy den,
We left a small light on at night when we went to bed at ten.
Every morning at six she came to our bed and barked one time.
When she wanted out to potty on the patio near the blue pine.

.

She lived with us every night and day for 14 long years.
She was a member of our family and she became so very dear.
Her kidneys had failed and she was in so very much pain,
We lost her on a Tuesday morning and put her to rest in the rain.

.

It saddens me deeply to recall these memories so very soon,
We mss her everyday and will for many months
of full moons.

But time will eventually heal us of this very great family loss,
And perhaps then we will get a new pup to come and live with us.
