Color Of The Blues
.
Here’s a short little ole poem that I have just written down.
That proposes an alternate color may be used as we frown,
Sometimes I think about some really strange things for sure,
And most of you people may think that I need a head cure.
.
Color Of The Blues
.
When someone gets a little sad, they may say I’ve got the blues.
It seems to me that maybe black might be a better color to use.
As it is not a color that is pretty or even that brings us any joy,
Or that would bring any happiness to our lives we could deploy.
It’s been a blue blue day or it’s been a black black day , I wonder which sounds better?
..
Perhaps white might work better also as is not too bright either.
“I’m feeling white today” or “I’m a little white” could be better,
But it would take a little getting used to I really have to admit.
So I guess we’re stuck with blue because we just can’t forget.
Blues stay away from me or Whites stay away from me, it’s a toss up I guess.
.
.
Perhaps “the yellows” might work to replace “the blues” quite well,
But “singing the yellows” or “yellows man” just sounds like hell.
So let’s face it, no matter what other color we propose to use,
Nothing is ever going to work as half as well “singing the blues.”
Singing the blues or Singing the yellows, that is the question?
.
.
Let’s examine the title to a country song by the Sweethearts duo.
By changing the color blue in the title to see what it may show.
The color used doesn’t seem to be that important as arranged.
But when you review the results, the meaning is totally changed.
.
“Blue To The Bone” may suggest some one is extremely sad.
“Black To The Bone” implies of African decent and kind of bad.
“White To The Bone” describes a Caucasian who may discriminate.
“Yellow To The Bone” could be a coward, an unwanted trait.
.
So let’s keep this fine little word called blue just as it is now,
Rather that trying to change a meaning of the word somehow.
We use “blue” in our everyday lives, so it is too hard to change,
So let’s all be happy and not so “blue” as blue we do retain.
