Clog Competition
During the period from 1986 through 1996, we clogged as a family,
We all loved to clog and got in to national competition so happily,
Although we did it for pure family fun and enjoyment on the way,
We did win a hundred or so competition trophies in those days.

We have pictures of some of our trophies we won during the years,
And I have selected just a few to share with you right inside here.
I can’t remember the dates and exact times we won in those days,
But I’ll share what I recall, although we were so busy it’s a haze.

When we first started out with Oklahoma Landrush clogging team,
Kristi and Tamara were soon on the kids competition team so keen,
At Branson competition, they won first place trophy in hoedown,
This made us all so happy as the trophy seemed like a crown.

Kristi was also asked to be on the adult hoedown team about then,
At that same competition, the adult team also got a first place win,
The practices and travel took a lot of time, but we loved the thrill,
Of the competition activity resulting in close family good will.

Kristi did a duet with her instructor Danny at Silver Dollar City park,
On the center stage as you first come in, that had a lot of spark,
They both did great and took first place trophy in their age class,
I loved it because they beat Melby with his brown nosing sass.

With the Trailblazers, our girls helped blaze a trail to a big win,
Of line dance grand prize trophy at Branson in the hot sun within,
A large outdoor arena with a big stage to dance on for all to see,
They did “Tennessee Banjo Man” written by our Tamara completely.

While with the Trailblazers, Tamara and Kristi did a duet together,
I loved seeing them dance at Mutton Hollow more than all others,
As they picked up another trophy there in Branson for themselves,
We brought that trophy home and proudly put it on the top shelf.

There at that same competition, Tamara and Casey did well,
As they both won the solo first place trophies and money do tell,
Those two were hard to live with the rest of that Branson trip,
But we were proud of them even if they acted like captain of a ship.

With Her Rhythm Masters Team, Tamara did a duet with Justin,
At Silver Dollar City with bright outfits that had people a fussin’,
Looking hot as they earned their trophy with a busting rock tune,
In that great park near Branson during the early part of June.

The Rhythm Masters put together a show routine the second year.
She had a small team but they danced their hearts out with no fear.
Securing a trophy in their age group there in Branson once more.
Those youngsters did it all by themselves on that big stage floor.

They had a larger group the next year, but some were brand new,
They still did an advanced line dance at Branson that year too.
Managing to get a second place trophy dancing against the best,
How hard the team worked together to pass that difficult test.

By this time our girls were both in college, so we jumped right in,
And did some competition ourselves with Rhythm Aces to win.
I did a duet with Gary with great success that very first year.
With a big fart, we won many trophies and money twice, I swear.

I won a trophy for a solo in competition that very same year,
I gave it my all as on that stage doing some clogging with no fear.
I was in the 50 plus category with a lot of other very old codgers,
Having a ball there dancing beating Fred too with my hop dodger.

Pam tried her hand at the solo dance too with the Rhythm Aces,
She got a trophy also with her fancy stepping going to the races,
But, if you’ll notice, my trophy was much larger than her tiny one,
Could than be an indicator that between us, I might have won?
.

.
The Rhythm Aces team won a lot of trophies in our short run,
But the best of all we always were able to have the most fun.
What great times we all had dancing and playing all together,
Becoming the best of friends competing with lots of others.
.
These are trophies for the Rhythm Aces from one competition at Ozark, Misourri. We were all as happy as can be on that trip..
