Choreographing Clog Dances

Choreographing Clog Dances

.
To find the music Misques and the Cuties wanted to dance to,
I needed to choreograph dances for our special old fart crew.
So I began writing a lot of the dances we did at our exhibitions,
To express ourselves and let out all of our own internal inhibitions.

Choreographing Clog Dances

When we broke off and formed Misques and the Cuties to clog dance
We couldn’t find routines to the music to which we wanted to prance.
I started choreographing our own dances just for us to dance to,
Using the very favorite intermediate steps that we loved to do.

An early dance I wrote was a very fun dance for us to begin
To “I Won’t Go Hunting With You Jake (but I’ll go chasing women).”
It starts in a line and goes to a circle with men chasing ladies.
The audience just loved this dance and they clapped like crazy.

One of my favorite tunes was “Dance Time In Texas” by Merle,
It had that special Texas beat that made you want to just whirl.
I wrote this dance we did so many times and the crowds did love,
They clapped so much it felt like we were right in heaven above.

We also did a routine I wrote called ” Cherokee Boogie” Indian style,
We dawned our feathers and tomahawks looking kind of wild,
Dancing to that Cherokee Indian special tom-tom drum beat.
As we tapped our toes in rhythm and rocked our cute little feet.

.I wrote a circle dance for us to do for the October Fest celebration,

The song called “Tritzem Yodel” that had roots from the German nation.
The people at the Fest loved to have fun and drink that German beer,
So they always loved our show so much and very loudly did cheer.

.We did a routine my daughter Tamara and I wrote to a Bob Wills treat,
Called “Stay A Little Longer” to give us a little Western swing beat,
We started in pairs until we were all up and dancing together,
I loved this one as I love this swing music as much as any other.

.

.

.

Tamara wrote a routine for us to a rock song called “Hot Red Sweater”.
The Cuties wore inflated boobs and red sweaters all together.
The words to the song made the audience laugh so very loud,
As the Cuties did their thing bouncing the boobs for the crowd.

.

.

Over the time we did our clogging, I probably wrote fifty routines or so,
My daughters wrote more advanced routines at home on the go.
As I look back, I wonder how I had time to choreograph as I did,
As I worked, traveled, clogged, two stepped, and also raised kids,

I guess you always find the time to do things you love to do,
If I were physically able, I’d still be choreographing and dancing too,
But we had to yield when it became too painful to possibly endure,
Or I would still be writing and out there clog dancing for sure.
