Cherish Your Vision

Cherish Your Vision

.
In the last four months my vision has rapidly deteriorated.
I can no longer safely drive a car making me so agrivated.
The blog has gotten progressively harder to write,
Because everything looks foggy with my poor sight.

Cherish Your Vision

My left eye used to carry the bulk of the load for my vision.
As my right eye was frozen when I made a bad decision.
While handling liquid nitrogen on the job at age 33,
When it blew in my right eye damaging it so I couldn’t see.

.

Now my left eye has fogged over so I can barely see,
And my damaged right eye is now much better for me.
So I’ve got a damaged eye and a foggy eye with poor sight.
Causing me much difficulty doing common tasks right.

This is the way I see the world now.

My prescription glasses no longer help my vision at all,
So I quit wearing them two months ago in the fall.
I didn’t realize how dependent on sight I was before,
Now Pam must read the mail to me like a helpless bore.

.

I can’t read the channel or name of a movie on Netflix.
This eye problem is really getting serious, a must fix.
I have to reverse colors on my iPad in order to write,
As I see white letters on black but not black on white.

.

I was able to see my optometrist after Christmas,
Who made an appointment to see a surgeon at last.
He said my problem with the left eye is large cataracts.
And scheduled me for surgery to try to bring my vision back.

.

.

He prescribed me $300 worth of eye drops and vitamins.
To use before and after the eye operation does end.
The doctor will put in a lens after the cataract is removed,
He told me my vision should be improved if I approved.

.

I’m scheduled in to get my left eye measured next week,
So they can make a lens based on the size they seek.
To hopefully restore the vision I have recently lost.
When the operation is completed at a great cost.

The surgery is scheduled for February 6 at 7 AM,
I’m so ready as I want to see much better once again,
The doc did say there’s a risk I could loose all sight,
In that left eye, if everything does not go just right.

.
I am praying the surgery restores my sight once again,
So I can drive once more and read small print so thin.
For the remainder of my days left here on this earth,
And this old man would feel like he almost had a rebirth.

I have always taken my reasonably good vision for granted,
Until my vision was severely impaired, then I ranted.
I now have a better appreciation for my good vision,
That is such a valuable asset helping with our precision.
