Bartlesville
.
At one time I said I would never in Bartlesville stay
And be subject to all of the Phillips Headquarter plays.
This poem describes how wrong I was in my beliefs
And how really great it surely was, much to my relief.

.
I was transferred from Odessa to Bartlesville by request,
I went to Corporate Engineering Process that I liked the best.
After a while, I realized I loved this job and had found my place.
So we settled into a small town running at a much slower pace.
.
We bought a three bedroom two story home with a basement,
And moved in to begin life in a home we now feel was God sent.
We had found our hometown and here we would always stay
Forty one years later, we are still here and for a few more we pray.
.
Just after we got here we took new square dance lessons,
To refresh our fun dance skills in the new teaching sessions.
We made many new friends as we danced around the floor
And traveled and played with these couples we did adore.
.
We called our group the “Mickey Mouse Gang”, quite a crew.
We skied, canoed, boated, played, and square danced too.
We all took our children with us every where we did play,
And became very close friends for life, what more can I say.
.
Kristi was nine and Tamara was seven when we moved into town.
They started school and were Ranch Heights elementary bound.
Pam got a job at Hains Flowers and we settled into our paths.
With more time for family life than we ever seemed to have in the past.
.
We clog danced with T Town, Trailblazers, and Country Rhythm too.
We were also members of “Misques And The Cutes” fun clog crew,
With Rhythm Aces competition clog team completing the list
We made many good friends who we often hugged and do miss.
.
I was promoted to Principal Process Engineer working everywhere
At places all over the world with many tourists attractions there.
The work always came first, but there was usually some time
To check out the local attractions while I was still in my prime.
.
The girls both went to and graduated from Bartlesville High School.
They both graduated from Oklahoma State University, how cool.
Now they have their own families and live in their own homes
With two fine children in their homes to raise on their own.
.
Although I’ve had a few problems with health along the way,
We’ve weathered them all and I’m in pretty good shape Doctors say.
Pam stuck in there with me and we got through the worst storms,
I’m still pretty mobile even though I’m still a little below the norm.
.
We’ve been retired for several years now taking it as easy as we can.
There’s not too much stress here inside this old wrinkled man,
Between the big recliner and 60 inch sony high definition TV,
We get along fine as long as the Grandkids we do get to see.
