A Miscue Show

A Miscue Show

We stopped in to see Linda and Gene in Tulsa the other day.
They told of serious health problems that almost put them away.
We reminisced about our shows with Miscues And The Cuties,
And the great times we had performing just doing our duties.

A Miscue Show

Miscues opened the show by playing “Howdy Neighbor Howdy”
By Porter Wagoner as we shook the crowd hands playing it loudly.
The crowd was now in a fun mood as the good music did play.
Then we were ready to start a show that would make their day.

Howdy Neighbor, Howdy  we’re here to entertain you. You’ll be surprised how fast these old bodies can move.

.

Our opening clog routine was always  “Let The Fun Begin”‘
By Buck Owens with “I’ll kill the old red rooster, come on in”,
This was an upbeat song we did in a circle dance yelling loud.
By the time the song was over we had the attention of the crowd.

I Won’t Go Hunting With You Jake, But I’ll Go Chasing Women,”
By Jimmy Dean was the next dance that we performed for them.
They just loved the music and the dance that started in a line,
Then we danced to circle chasing the women being just behind.

I won’t go hunting with you Gene, but I’ll go chasing women. Did you see how big the schlonskis are on these women?

.

We always rocked just a little with “Old Time Rock And Roll”,
By Bob Segar because everyone loves that song from the show.
We all went different directions when the music would start,
To keep it interesting and so the audience would think we were smart.

Getting into that Old Time Rock And Roll performing what looks like to be a right on step routine . What fun we had.

To give us a break, my daughters danced to “Tennessee Banjo Man,”
Sung by Mel Tillis that was of Bluegrass origin from this land.
The people liked it so well as they got into the music and dance,
That when they finished the routine, they were all in a trance.

.

One of my favorite routines was Merle Haggards “Texas Fiddle Song”
The Miscues learned this and we did it at exhibitions so long.
The crowds always loved the dance that was just so fun to do,
Making it fun for us cloggers dancing our hearts out just for you

.

The Miscue ladies liked “The Too Fat Polka” as it fit the costumes,
The song by the Andrews Sisters was for them only, I assume,
As the men were all nice and trim, as fit as a very good athlete,
Dancing with those overweight cuties just a tapping their feet.

We did the Too Fat Polka at Octoberfest and the crowd got Loud. “I don’t want her, you can have her, she’s too fat for me.”

.

After this one we did a old traditional song called “Dooley”,
By Porter Wagoner which was a fast circle dance I tell you truly.
The crowd got into this one as it really moves along very fast.
We usually did this one right before a break so we could rest.

Looks like we’re changing partners as we do the routine Dooley. Dooley was very fast so we usually took a break after we did that dance.

Along about now, Vernon would come to the microphone to sing,
The song “This Ain’t My First Rodeo” he would just let ring,
He voice was deep and mellow so the crowd did sing along,
He was telling the audience we were experienced by the song.

.

And I can’t forget we always did a song called “Sunflower”,
By Glen Campbell that was a crowd pleaser with flower power.
The girls started wearing sunflowers on top of their sun bonnets,
Looking like they had grown large sunflower gardens upon it.

Linda’s getting warmed up to do our Sun Flower routine with her bonnet full of the sun flowers.

.

We always did the song “Tritzem Yodel” for the Octoberfest
By GrandPa Jones that was a beer drinking polka at its best.
The beer drinkers there had a better time than most of the crowds,
Yelling and cutting up a little high with their heads in the clouds.

.

To end our show we played the music called “Shake A Hand,”
By The Oak Ridge Boys so we could all greet the crowd again.
We thanked them all for watching our show as their hands we shook,
Telling them we appreciated the attendance time that they took.

.

We had many other dances that we would fit in if we could,
But an hour or so is all our old bodies could have ever stood.
What a great time we had with our friends giving all those shows,
In 10 years, we did over 400 exhibition dance shows, this I know.
