South Fork Summers
.
My daughter Kristi and her family are spending a week up at South Fork, Colorado, this week, and she has been sending pictures on the cloud this week. This reminded me that we did a lot of things up there that I never mentioned in previous blogs. I will use some of her recent pictures to describe some of the other things we did up there in the summers.

South Fork Summers
.
I have previously talked about the South Fork area river rafting, the river fly fishing, the square dancing, the camp fires, the water melon feasts, the family reunions, and many other fun things. Here are a just few more things we did up there.
.
Hiking
.
Just about 100 feet from my dads cabin was the fence to the Rio Grande National Forest. There was a mountain called Aqua Ramon that started up at the fence. We would hike up the side of that mountain and look for arrow heads. Over the years I found several there.

.
There are hundreds of small beautiful mountain streams and lakes you can hike into for a look at nature at its best. What a beautiful area for adults and children.

Horse Back Riding
.
The best place for horse back rides we ever saw was in these mountains with the breath taking scenery. I usually went fishing when Pam and the girls went riding.

Creede Repertory Theater
.
In Creede, Colorado, there is a live production theater that still puts on shows. All the shows we went to were very entertaining and the actors were quite good. They have some nice bars that the men can go in before the show while the women were shopping.
This theater in Creede is fantastic if you like the performing arts. I went to many shows there and I never saw one I didn’t like.
.
Four Wheeling
Several times we rented four wheel drive jeeps and went up the mountain trails between South Fork and Creede. We often saw huge herds of elk grazing high in the mountain and the scenery from high on the mountain was awesome.
This is actually one of my favorite things to do around South Fork, but it is fairly expensive to rent the jeep.

Durango To Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
.
You need a full day to drive over Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs and on to Durango to catch the Durango To Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The ride takes you through some of the most scenic country in Colorado. The seats in the train are a little hard so you might want to take a pillow. We had part of our crew drive the cars to Silverton and pick us up there for the trip home to South Fork.

Overall, the South Fork area has a lot of things to do in the summer months and remains a great place for a summer vacation.
