Why Me Lord
.
Sometimes we feel like we have had to suffer more than we should,
And we ask the Lord why he has done this when we are so good,
Before we have thought too much about who is really to blame.
Be careful what you say or you may have some internal shame.
Why Me Lord
At the young age of three, my Mom was rocking me to sleep,
My hand fell off the side and my finger was nipped off so neat.
I screamed and hollered as we headed fast out the front door,
My Mom raised her eyebrows loudly saying ” Why Me Lord?”
She took me straight to the hospital ER bleeding pretty bad
And the doctor attempted to sew my finger back on this lad,
But he could not which made me hurt a whole lot more,
And left me repeating what my Mom had said “Why Me Lord?”
When I was age four, my dog Freckles was crossing the street.
A car came speeding by and ran him over squashing his meat.
I ran into the street to help but he was just laying still as a board.
I looked up towards the heavens and hollered “Why Me Lord?”
The car didn’t even bother to stop and try to help my poor pup.
The driver just sped away leaving me there in my grief looking up.
The driver heard a thump, looked back, and the car he floored
I could almost hear him yelling the same words, ” Why Me Lord?”
My sister JerrylDine and I loved Freckles and were deeply saddened by his loss.
We ask The Lord why He allowed the bad thing to happen to us
Because we are emotionally saddened or just hurt making a fuss.
In reality, one of the people involved are to blame for the event.
It feels better to ask the Lord why our misery he didn’t prevent.
There is even a very popular song that relays this message too.
“Why me Lord, what did I ever do, to deserve this from you…..”
I guess the Lord has big shoulders and takes the blame we share,
Until we get it all sorted out and figure out He really does care.
So let’s all work hard to no longer say the words “Why Me Lord?”
To free up time for The Lord to work in areas he’s needed more.
In the long run, we will all be better off not shifting the blame,
And working harder being careful keeping our heads in the game.
