Christmas Time Is Near
.
Christmas time is growing very near for this fine year,
So we all are full of Christmas joy as carols we do hear.
It looks now like that all our family will get to be together,
Once again to share gifts this year with each other.
.
Christmas Time Is Near
.
We have set a date to get together at our home once more,
To exchange our gifts again like we have done before.
For Christmas is growing very near coming into fruition,
As we prepare again for those fine old time traditions.
Our traditional gift exchange in years past with our grandchildren.
.
The Taylors all came over in early December this year,
To help us put up and trim our tree with much care.
We had a lot if fun that day working together as a unit,
And the tree looked so great when we finished with it.
What fun it is when you have lots of help trimming the tree.
.
We were feeling the Christmas Spirit that fine day,
So we headed on out to downtown Bartlesville way,
And took a carriage ride together that was so much fun,
Clomping along as we sang Christmas carols on the run.
I didn’t think this would be fun for an old man, but I had a great time cutting up like old times.
.
Pam cooked up a big batch of sugar cookies yesterday,
And iced them up in Christmas style her special way,
When she knew all the grandkids were coming to play.
As they all love those cookies she cooks up for their stay.
I tested a few and my mind they blew, yummy dummy do!
We put up a few lights this year in the yard outside,
So it would not be dark as by the house people do ride,
But I’m not sure it helped too much, although we did try,
When I drove by, I laughed out loud as it looked so dry.
Well it’s better than nothing.
.
I developed a new Spotify playlist for this fine event,
With lots of down home Christmas songs, all heaven sent.
There’s deep country, mountain, and bluegrass too,
To play on my Bluetooth speaker until we get through.
Christmas 2017
.
We will cook an iron skillet ham with lots of fried potatoes,
To eat as a family before opening presents, l do suppose,
As we have done so many times together in the past,
To make our fun traditional family time together last.
.
I’ll score the top of that ham a little and stick in some cloves,
Then brown sugar and a Coke go on top, then into the stove.
I let that ham cook for 45 minutes in that skillet of iron,
Then pull the cloves and slice it with a smooth action.
I’ve cooked that traditional ham a time or two in the past.
.
After dinner, the grandkids are anxious pulling their hair,
So I put on my Santa hat and get in my big easy chair.
We designate a deligate to pass all out the fine gifts,
And open one at a time around until none are left.
I get the best seat for all the Christmas present opening.
.
Our gifts are wrapped and under the tree this year,
And we have set a the date for December 22, so near.
We may go out on the 23rd to see Woolaroc’s lights.
As the grandkids will be going home the next night.
All ready for our family event.

PS: Pam cooked up a batch of chocolate chip cookies this afternoon. Is she a grandchild spoiler or what.
