Thank You Pam

Thank You Pam

.

Over the 43 years Pam and I have been happily married,
There were times I was very proud of the weight Pam carried.
So this poem is to say thank you for all the love Pam did give.
To this old man as our wonderful years together we did live.

Thank you Pam for finding me, a single man so wild and lost,
Saving me from ruining my life, maybe losing my soul as a cost.
By marrying me before I was too far gone and running amuck.
Teaching me about love and goodness before I ran out of luck.

Thank you Pam for carrying and delivering both of our girls,
And doing the dirty work while I earned a living in the world.
Thank you for sharing your beauty with both girls we love so,
Living the good times as through our lives our family did go.

Thank you Pam for letting me hunt and fish with my brother,
This meant much to me as our love was strong for one another.
I dearly loved those outdoor adventures in early marriage years,
While you and the girls spent time with your Mom, such a dear.

Thank you Pam for taking care of me when I froze my eyes,
In an accident at work when liquid nitrogen to my face did fly,
You went beyond the call of duty leading me blind to the pot,
And even aiming old Duke as I peed to keep my stream on spot

Thank you Pam for dragging me out to lessons to square dance,
And teaching me how to socialize with others as we did prance,
Making our life so much fun with many friends we did adore,
As we moved to clogging and two stepping with more fun in store.

Thank you Pam for fixing me your potato soup when I had the flu,
It always made me feel better and seemed to help me on through.
There seemed to be nothing else that would help me as much,
As that potato soup made by your hands with that special touch.

Thank you Pam for taking care of our girls as I traveled so much,
Sometimes being overseas for a month, just staying in touch,
While you carried the whole load on the home front all alone
What a trooper you were with our two teenage girls at home.

Thank you Pam for nursing me back to health many times alone,
With an aneurism, then quadruple bypass, laying in bed at home.
I could not have made it through without you there at my side.
Feeding and waiting on me in my feeble condition on that ride.

Thank you Pam for picking me up off the ground when I fell,
With diabetes and peripheral arterial disease giving me hell,
Trying to walk while keeping my balance not feeling too well,
I know it is hard to get 300 pounds of dead weight up, do tell.

.
Thank you Pam for doing the leg work and lifting these days,
Being nearly crippled and feeble has limited me in many ways.
Your TLC has perhaps spoiled me in our so called golden years,
As I think about how much you do,  and it brings me to tears.

.
Thank you Pam for taking on the driving duty for you and I,
As my eyesight is now bad, failing no matter what I do try.
As I get older you continue to pick up more of our daily load,
I guess it will be so until the day I come to an end to my road.

.
Most of all, I thank you for being my soul mate for 43 years,
Through all of our laughing joyous and sad times with tears,
There is no way I could cover all the thanks that I owe to you,
In this poem that I have written for you before I am through.
