Wondering Back Then
.
As a young man, I wondered about things to come,
Because I was very curious about on my own life’s run.
These wonderings brought many thoughts that were wrong,
Perhaps, you had some of the same thoughts along.
.
Wondering Back Then
When I reached the age of 23, I received my college degree.
I wondered if I would ever find a woman that could love me.
I was rotten to the very core, that was so easy to see,
I dated some but never got into anyone too seriously.
.
When I reached the age of 25, I was drafted into the Army,
To the war zone in Vietnam, the army then did send me,
I wondered if I would survive a year of service over there,
But I did stay alive to come home to my life back here.
.
.
When I was a young man of 28, kind of running a little wild,
I wondered how old I would live to be with my life style,
I convinced myself I would likely die before I was 40,
As I was abusing my body with smoke and booze you see.
.
At age 29, I met a girl named Pam who seemed so right.
I wondered if I could make a good husband to my wife,
I decided to settle down and get married that June.
At age 30, we tied the knot in the morning close to noon.
.
At age 31, our first daughter, Kristi, came into this world,
I wondered if Kristi would learn to be a sleep at.night girl,
She kept one of us up each night walking the floor with her,
She was definitely the center of our new lives for sure.
.
At age 33, our second daughter, Tamara, was born to us,
I wondered if she could be different with no night fuss.
Tamara slept all night long with never even a little cry,
By now we loved of them both dearly as we were on the fly.
.
At age 35, I transferred to Oklahoma City to a new job.
I wondered if I would be successful or fail like a blob.
But the job went well and we were there three years,
We made many friends there and left shedding tears.
.
At age 38, I was promoted again to big Houston town.
I wondered if the big city life would soon get me down,
And soon found out while driving to work with a big frown,
At 5 in the morning to miss the traffic rush to work down town.
.
At age 40, I had to take a job in Odessa I didn’t want,
I wondered if I could survive in that job so very taunt.
I worked very hard, but people problems ripped me apart,
So I asked the Company to give me a new job for a start.
.
At age 41, I took an engineering job in Bartlesville,
I wondered if I would ever be promoted again or be still,
But I loved my job there and was soon promoted again,
So we settled in as a family, which for us was a big win.
.
.
By 45, I was traveling the world over with my job, I do say,
I wondered if the Company would again move me away,
But, although I continued to travel the globe around,
We retired in Bartlesville in the permanrnt home we found.
