Things That Awed Me

During the time here on this beautiful earth I have known,
I have experienced many things that my mind has blown.
Some were sights, and some were just very special events,
That were just so awesome, that I am now sharing herein.

Things That Awed Me
.
Walking across Texas Tech’s stage with flowing strides.
To receive my Mechanical Engineering degree with pride,
Gave me an awesome feeling of great accomplishment,
With an internal warm glow all inside that felt heaven sent.

Tamara performed a jump rope clogging dance routine.
That gave me deep internal awe each time it was seen.
As it was so amazing to see her hand-foot coordination.
That only she could do here in our entire American nation.

Each time I got out in the clear, cold Rio Grande River,
Floating a dry fly down the ripple just watching it quiver,
I was over whelmed with an awesome natural high feeling,
Seeing a brown trout suck in that fly to start me a reeling.

One time I was able to see those fantastic northern lights,
While in northern Saskatchewan that was quite a sight.
The Arroyo Borealis was so awesome as I wondered why,
All that great color and beauty was spread over the sky.

One time in Vietnam, I saw mini guns being shot at night,
From small fast helicopters firing making quite a sight,
With tracer rounds glowing red as they traveled down,
Making awesome bending trails on the way to the ground.

One time while in Alaska for engineering work reasons,
I fished the Kenai River during the King Salmon season.
Catching those huge fish was such an awesome thrill,
My friend Doug, sent lots of smoked Salmon to old Bill.

While hunting deer in New Mexico in the Mesa country,
A giant 10 point mule deer came down the hill near me.
An awesome feeling came over me on that Mesa at play,
As I bagged that huge deer feeling great all that day.

After spending a year in Vietnam serving my country,
A super awesome feeling filled my entire young body,
As I climbed on the plane flying me back to the USA.
So happy I was heading home after surviving my stay.

Perhaps the most awesome moment of my entire life,
Was when I woke up in intensive care in very much strife,
After surgery to repair my ruptured Aorta Artery one day,
The last thing I heard was, “he probably won’t make it today.”

.
..
I guess different people are awed by different things,
We never know just what will pull our awesome strings.
And amaze us with such an awesome natural high feeling,
That leaves our whole body flying high, rocking and reeling.
