The First Navy Years
.
I was born in February, 1943, in the town of Phillips, Texas.
In October, 1942, Dad had joined the Navy to kick ass.
They let him come home on a leave for my birth day,
Then we drove back to Virginia to start our Navy stay.

The First Navy Years
.
We got a place in Williamsburg, Virginia, near Dads base,
And started our Navy Years right there at that place.
Mom bought a Kodak Brownie Camera to record us,
The photos are all outside to get enough light as we fuss.
.
.
My sister JerrylDine and I were Mom and Dads joys,
They played with us kind of like we were their toys,
On year one, I was new born and JerrylDine was 18 months.
I think JerrylDine was pretty proud of this little hunk.
.
.
Mom had a basket that she carried me around in,
I guess I was her baby boy pride and joy way back then.
JerrylDine would come up to me and give me a kiss,
I guess I was just so cute giving them both so much bliss.
.
.
Sometimes Mom went kind of wild with our little clothes,
And dressed me in outfits that made me cringe my small nose,
JerrylDine seems to be a little unhappy in her outfit too,
Those hats Mom put on us would have also irked you.
.
.
I grew pretty fast as Mom fed me good all the time.
She had JerrylDine and I wear matching sailor suits to shine,
Then curled our hair real nice and sat us on the steps,
Trying to keep my attention as I flex my little bicep.
.
.
Living out in the country we sometimes did swim,
In our cute little white underwear looking so trim.
With no one else around, we both went topless there,
While looking to see if anyone was around anywhere.
.
.
Dad made JerrylDine and I wooden horses to ride,
Mom painted faces on them on the heads on the side.
We rode those horses many miles sitting right there,
Having so much fun together back then, I do swear.
.
.
Sometimes we sat out back with our little table and chairs,
And JerrylDine’s Chuckie Doll often joined us out there.
We had cookies and milk out in the great outdoors,
Having fun out there together, never getting bored.
.
.
We had an old 1938 Chevy Coupe Mom and Dad owned,
That was kind of cool looking in that old country zone.
JerrylDine and I look happy as can be standing so tall.
With those funky little outfits that fine day in the fall.
.
.
JerrylDine and I loved our Dad so very much then,
And we were so proud to pose out there with him.
In his Navy outfit looking like a very handsome man,
Holding both of us tight with of his two loving hands.

Message: Family life at a young age sets the standard for the rest of the children’s life. Make sure these are the best years for your children as did our parents before us.
