The Engineer In Me

The Engineer In Me

.

An engineer looks for short cuts to get an answer fast.
To give preliminary direction to proceed that’s not vast.
This poem is an example of things engineers get asked
To provide an answer to get things moving ahead fast.

The Engineer In Me

.
A
guy asked “how can I tell how brave a certain male may be,”
I said “I would have to think a little, but hypothetically,
I think it would be a measure of how big his balls were.”
He said “you may be on to something, let’s go on from here.”

.

.

He said “but different species have vastly different ball sizes.
So how could I get a measure of bravery without surprises?”
I said “we could get a ratio of ball weight to total weight,
Then compare them to see which one of them was greatest.

.

He said ” let’s give it a try’, I’ll give you three males from me.
Take an American man, a Hereford bull, and a Tom turkey,
To see which is the bravest one of the three with your rough test.”
I said  “I’ll see which average ball to total weight ratio is best
.”

..

I dug out some information off of the Internet and this I found.
An American male was 175 pounds with balls totaling 0.62 pounds.
A Hereford bull was 2200 pounds with balls totaling 2.0 pounds.
A Tom turkey weighed 25 pounds with balls totaling 0.1 pounds.

..

After the math, the American man ball to total weight was best,
He was 6 times braver than the Tom turkey from the rough test.
And he was 4 times braver than the Hereford bull from the west.
It was plain to see the man had easily won this little contest.

..

I warned the guy the test was rough so don’t trust results much.
Factors like testosterone production rate, brain size, and such,
May effect results more than you think, but I believe man wins.
Soldiers have proven bravery many times after a war begins.

.

I’ve never heard of any bull that completed acts of great valor,
Or a turkey with a big enough brain not to run from all danger.
So this problem could have been answered with common sense,
If the guy would have just thought about it and not got so tense.

.

Now that you have a little taste of what engineers might do,
To see if the little cohoney to total weight ratio theory was true.
I wonder if you may have thought of it too and seen it on through.
I think it gave the right answer, but it might not convince you.

.

The moral of this story is a man who was blessed with big eggs,
Should keep them safe when they’re laying between his legs,
When he needs to be a brave man, they will kick into high gear
Allowing his courage to grow keeping him from feeling all fear.
