September Rose

September Rose

.

.
I thought what may happen to a pink rose on a September day.
Although it’s not near as exciting as a trip to Disney World to play.
And there’s not enough fun activities to write an exciting book,
This short poem will still give the pretty pink rose a quick look.

Early in the cool morning, the dew is condensing on my pink petals,
The sparkling dew is refreshing as l soak up moisture as it settles,
The beads of silver dew drops tickle a little as they roll off of me.
It cleans and washes my petals making my pink shine brightly.

The morning September sun is rolling over the eastern horizon.
Warming my petals down to my stem with the golden rays it spun.
I open my petals just a little to catch more sun as it climbs in the sky.
I’ll just lean over to get more sun as it feels so good I can’t deny.

Look in the sky, It’s a brightly colored hummingbird hovering there,
He’s landed on the edge of my petals sucking honey with care,
I feel very happy that with the tiny bird my nectar I can share.
Watching him flutter around quickly with a lot of energy to spare.

The sun is way up in the sky sending his rays to me to soak in,
I’ve got my petals fully opened now absorbing all that he can send.
I feel so very good this time of the day and I know I am growing.
If that old sun keeps rolling by, my bright pink color will keep glowing.

There’s a small buzz in the air and I see a little fuzzy honey bee.
He visits other roses and brings that pollen to reproduce to me,
He keeps us alive and I just love to have his little feet on my petals,
I share nectar with him so he will bring pollen when on me he settles.

In the evening when the sun goes down, I pull my petals on in.
It’s been a good day for me and I didn’t lose any petals in the wind.
My petals keep me warmer as the temperature drops ten degrees,
I worry about frost bite, but it’s really way to early for a freeze.

Darkness falls and my petals close up tight for the long night.
I fall off to sleep content that my
day had turned out to be just right,
I feel the sparkling dew again condensing and open up a little,
Getting ready to start a new day spreading all my pink petals.
