Recording Session
.
Back when I could run the basement stairs easily,
I often headed down to the basement to record a CD.
I had 20,000 vinyl 45s and LPs with lots of fine songs,
Classic country was my favorite as I recorded along.

.
I collected vinyl records for 25 years back in my day,
Old classic country were my favorite I loved to play.
I picked off thousands of my favorite songs to record,
On 80 minute Compact Discs that sounded so good.
BRS means Billy Ray Special.
.
.
.
.
.
I always made three copies of the CDs by Billy Ray,
Giving one to Buffalo Bob for country music to play.
The other extra copy I gave to my country friends.
Trying to start a classic country music loving trend.

I had CD Label software so I personalized each CD,
With family pictures and titles that were made up by me,
I love looking through those old CD books from then,
To see my old creations there on each one of them.
.Yes, that’s Tanya.
.
.
I had a turn table connected to an amplifier of 500 watts.
And Fisher speakers with 90 pound woofers so hot.
Playing those LP’s and 45s on my special system,
Made a sweet sound that often gave me chills within.
What, you don’t know Mel Street?
.
.
I had a small fridge where I recorded in the basement.
Loaded with Bud Light so ice cold for my enjoyment.
When I went down to record, I popped a cold one,
And continued drinking them until my CD was done.
When the Stroh’s neon light goes on, it’s beer drinking time.
.
I would sort through my records and pick out the best.
Of the classic songs from my record stock so vast.
And line them in the order I wanted them on my CD,
While chugging beer starting to feel a buzz in me.
Found “Next In Line” by Conway Twitty.
.
.
I sat my chair in front of the turntable with a beer,
And turned the volume up until it was loud down there.
Then put on a song like “Pass The Booze” by Ernest Tubb.
I had enough beer by now that I was feeling so good.
I’m in Hawg Heaven singing along with George Jones.
.
.After 10 minutes of that raw honky tonk clear and loud,
I was feeling the music like I was floating on a cloud,
There was a tune called “Dream Of Me” that set me to song.
And I would start singing very loudly right on along.
The good stuff.
.
.
I would put my heart and soul into singing along loud,
With deep emotions feeling so high up on that cloud.
This released all my daily tensions making me feel good,
I loved getting lost in honky tonk music cause I could.
Heavy Honkers for sure.
.
.
It took about two hours to record an 80 minute CD,
And I had a six pack of Bud Light down inside of me.
Sometimes we headed out to two step a little later,
And listened to my new honky tonk CD on the way there.
Honky tonk songs sung by Cotton Creek Band.
.
.
I made about 300 CDs recording down in my man cave,
But I must say I really enjoyed my time that I gave,
Recording that honky tonk music that touched my soul.
While making me feel great as that turn table rolled.
Here’s to Honky Tonk music.
