Phillips Grade School Days
In the past years, I blogged about my Phillips school days.
Of things that stuck with me attending classes on my way
Here’s a summary of some of the memories I did recall,
I guess some very weird things have an impact on us all.

Phillips Grade School Days
.
In 1949, I was in Mrs Adams class in the very first grade.
I was a very shy young man that my internal fears made.
One time I needed to pee so bad that my pants I did wet,
Because I was afraid to ask in front of the class, I regret.

In 1950, Phillips High School burned down on one Sunday,
I was still in the 1st grade during those very trying days.
The high school kids attended classes in two churches,
There adjacent to the high school for what seemed like ages.

In 1952, when I was sitting in Mrs Rash’s 3rd grade class,
I spilled a bottle of liquid cinnamon on my desk so fast,
That held my cinnamon toothpicks there as my hot treats,
Mrs Rash got sick but I didn’t get paddled on my little seat.

In 1952, while I was still in that 3rd grade class one day,
Dorothy Shaw barfed creamed corn right on my food tray.
Making me so sick and spoiling all my food along the way.
That barf made me hate creamed corn forever and always,

In 1953, while I was in Mrs Haren’s fourth grade class,
I picked a fight with Randall Court and he whipped my ass,
When I got back to our class, I got four licks with a paddle,
And I wondered all day who had been a rat and tattled.

In 1953, a black duster blew on in from the northwest.
And it got completely dark there while we were in class
Our Moms picked us up from school after it got dark,
It rained mud balls on the way home as we passed the park.

In 1954, Mrs Willis was my fifth grade teacher so very fine,
We won football state championship in Class AA at that time.
I had a cousin named Norman on that great team back then.
I believe our school pride peaked out in 1954 as they did win.

In 1955, when I was in Mrs Roberts room in 6th grade,
My cousins and I wrote on a fence and a big fuss was made,
My cousin Rick and I got two butt bustings the next day
That affected me adversely during my long life’s way.
