My Favorite Birds

 My Favorite Birds

.

Americas birds are fantastic works of art in our natural scenes
Their beauty is often overlooked and they are so often unseen.
So let’s take a little closer look in this little poem that rhymes
And no longer overlook them in these often troubled times.

The Bald Eagle soars through America so very high in the sky,
The symbol of American pride and freedom floating on high
With the wind beneath his wings gently floating him in the air
The spectacle of beauty with his white head gleaming up there.

The wild Turkey is the symbol of birds in the great outdoors.
Strutting his stuff to impress the hens and gain their rapport .
Spreading his tail feathers, walking that walk, and gobbling too,
Then having his way to produce chicks to grow his flock anew.

The Chaparral is very fast running along the prairie terrain.

He outsmarts the Wiley Coyote during the day again and again.

That long aerodynamic profile allows him to run like the wind.
As he outsmarts the predators leaving them panting and spent.

The Great Horned Owl does his hunting after the sun goes down.
His large eyes help him see his prey running along on the ground.
He swoops down and catches the varmints with his talon claws
And takes them to his babies to feed their appetites that never pause.

The Ring Necked Pheasant is a beautiful bird hunted for sport.
The big bird will sit a wait until you almost step on his foot,
Then burst into flight breaking silence with a very frightening sound.
You raise the gun, lead the bird, squeeze the trigger, and a bird is down.

The Hummingbird is a spectacle of beauty darting to the flowers,
Sucking the nectar to feed his need for energy for flight power.
Bright colors sparkling in the sun as he buzzes bloom to bloom,
One of God’s wonders for us to enjoy as around he does zoom.

The Mockingbird blesses us with the beautiful songs he sings,
No two are alike so we get to enjoy original arrays that just ring.
Such a happy sounding song bird that brightens our every day.
Sometimes mimicking birds with wonderful sounds they relay.

.

The Wood Duck with a beautiful array of bright colors on him,
Looks like any other duck flying high during migration time.
But up close his beauty will awe you and make you feel so good,
You wonder why this awesome duck could be named “Wood.”
