Honkytonking With Ray Price

.

Ray Price was singing Honky Tonk with lots of “Pride”
Back in the early 1950’s in the “City Lights” on his ride.
With an “Invitation to The Blues” for us all back then,
Perhaps thinking “You Done Me Wrong” what a sin.

(This is a honkytonk tall tale with a guy and a girl as stars,
Using a Ray Price song title on every line out in a bar.
As the couple talks back and forth as they dance there.
On that honkytonk hardwood floor pretending to care.)

The Ray Price honkytonk sound was “A Way To Survive”.
Around the bars as “For The Good Times” the cowboy did ride.
Often peeking through the “Curtain In The Window”,
Looking for a special girl for some “Night Life” he loved so.

.

He found his “Sweet Little Miss Blue Eyes” in Jean’s Saloon,
She was “A Girl In The Night” he ran with way back in June,
While she was “Grazin’ In Greener Pastures” with a friend,
As the cowboy watched the “Bubbles In My Beer” to the end.

.

This night they drank beer to “Heartaches By the Number”, there,
Dancing so very close with those “Crazy Arms” on a tear.
He said “Don’t You Ever Get Tired Of Hurting Me” in her ear,
As “A Thing Called Sadness” took over her out there.

.

He was thinking “I’d Rather Be Sorry” than to lose you now,
As to those old “Burning Memories” of our love, he did bow.
As his “Heart Over Mind” is driving him right on along,
Reigniting his “Faded Love” to a fresh love so strong.

.

He was on the floor thinking “Am I That Easy To Forget” so blue,
As she then told him “My Shoes Keep Walking Back To You”.
So he told her “You’re The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me”,
And “The Other Woman” meant nothing, as you will see.

.

Then “Crazy” came on that corner Jukebox so nice and slow.
As he said “I’ll Be There” if you ever need me, this I know,
And they belly rubbed close thinking “Make The World Go Away”,
Just “One More Time” as in her arms he wanted always to stay.

.

As they danced he told her I will always be “The Same Old Me”,
And “That’s All That Matters” if we love each other completely.
As “San Antonio Rose” came on the Jukebox so very loud,
As He said “Don’t Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes” on a cloud.

.

She asked him then “Are You Sure” you want to dance swing,
And he told her “I Won’t Mention It Again” on this honkytonk fling,
But “If It’s All The Same To You” I’d like to two step some more,
Before we quit dancing and you then “Walk Me To The Door”.

.

She said alright I’ll play “Wasted Words” by Ray Price as a start,
Then I’ll play an old waltz called “Run Boy” before we part.
I think a “Soft Rain” has started falling out there in the world,
As she said “I Let My Mind Wander” as I’m a very sentimental girl.

.

He said It’s midnight now, “Ain’t It Funny How Time Slips Away”,
And “I’ll Keep On Loving You”, as goodbye he
 did then say.
As he had fallen “Under Your Spell Again” on a honkytonk night.
And “Just For The Record” things have gone so very right.
