Hit Bottom

Hit Bottom

.

We finally hit the bottom in our old “trunk of plenty,”
Which left a taste in our mouths so fresh and minty.
As many old memories were refreshed from our past,
Because we may finish looking at the contents at last.

We found an old baby blanket of mine inside today,
Kind of worn and tattered still looking good that way.
Old King Cole was the character on my old blanket,
A nursery rhyme poem was there too, Mom often sang it.

There was a painting on cloth that came from my Mom,
On the back it says in 1969, she bought it in a store from,
Antwerp, Belgium, where they lived working a while.
She loved art, always checking out the current styles.

There was one more old book that we found inside,
Called “Little Black, A Pony” that took us for a ride,
As we couldn’t recall who had owned the old book,
Perhaps it was my brother Craig who gave it a look.

There were two wood bunnies all dressed up nice,
Our friend Linda made just for Pam and I with spice.
She named them Pammy and Billy Ray just for us,
Everyone that saw them back then made a big fuss.

Inside was Pam’s doll when she was just a little girl,
She called her Susie Q when she entered the doll world.
The doll was wrapped in an old dress kind of fancy,
That belonged to her Mom, worn mostly on Sunday.

There was a plate inside that was made by our Kristi,
At a.very young age that seemed so very cool to me.
I think the happy girl was Kristi standing out in the snow,
Near Santa’s house and dog there at the North Pole.

There was several pieces of old clothes down deep,
That Pam had placed inside there for us to keep.
There was a Rattlers Shirt from our Houston days,
And a Minnie Mouse top from Mickey Mouse Gang play.

There was also a sleeveless Spuds Mackenzie top,
I wore when I still had a muscle or two I could pop.
And a cute dress Pam wore as a very young girl too.
Pam’s grandmother made that dress when it was new.

We found a bracelet that young Pam had loved so.
Her Dad bought it when they lived in San Fransisco.
On it was one big charm which is a big trolley car.
When she wore it then, she feli like a Bay Area star.

We did hit the bottom in that old trunk today all blue,
But over in one corner was a lot of very small stuff too,
These things are worth mentioning as some are fine.
So there will he one more trunk blog before closing time.
