Previous blogs “Fibrillating” and “Status” discuss my heart beat,
This poem will update my heart problem plans being discrete,
And how I plan to deal with the irregularities and feel better too.
Perhaps eliminating my being tired all the time from the little I do.

 

 

Heart Beat

.

After failure of the shock treatment to restore my hearts correct beat,
And  after the special medicine they gave me my heart to treat
Slowed my heart down too slow making me faint and light headed,
I met with my heart doctor again to decide what I really needed.

He suggested I consider a different  procedure called Cardiac Ablation
To stop the Atrial Fibrillation but even the name sounds like damnation.
I told him I would talk to the specialist in Tulsa to make a decision.

So I scheduled an appointment with the specialist for his precision.

 

 

.

Yesterday, I met with the expert and who first gave me an EKG test.
He told me I had two separate problems which I needed to arrest.
He said I had the A fib for which the Ablation might do some good,
But risks are high and there is less that 50% success rate and I understood.

 

 

.

The second problem is that part of my hearts electric is not firing
He said this is the cause of my low heart beat rate and body tiring.
He said a pace maker would increase my rate from current forty one,
To the 70 bpm range and make me feel so much better all day long.

 

 

.

I was concerned about what happens if the pace maker battery died.
So I ask him if the battery dies will I also be dead meat and fried.
He asked me “are you dead now?” And I of course said a big no.
He said my heart would still function but it would just again slow down.

 

 

.

However, the pace maker will do nothing to solve the A fib beat,
So I could do the pace maker first and get to feel good on my feet,
Then decide if I wanted to pursue Ablation sometime later in life.
This sounded good to me, so I thanked him for help with my strife.

 

 

.

So when I get organized, I’ll get back with my doctor here,
And schedule the pace maker installation with much care,
So I’ll again feel better and improve my Geezer years a bit,
I wonder if they can hide the darn thing under my left tit?
