Dancing with The Devil
I had a lot of trouble with my imagination when I was five,
The devil decided to have a little fun with my will to survive
He got inside my little brain and caused me so much strife
Until I figured out how to get him completely out of my life.
Dancing with The Devil
When I was five and had a very creative internal imagination,
I walked into my room and on the wall saw a shadow projection,
It looked like a man with horns with sharp claws on his hands.
I wondered if this could be satin trying to get into my soul again.
The door to my room was closed and the monster was growing,
More details of his features had begun to form and were showing.
He had started turning red and his slanted eyes started to glow.
I wondered if he was planing to burn me to a crisp very slow.
By now, his tail was laying on the floor adjacent to the north wall.
If I could cut his tail with my little shovel, off it would surely fall,
Perhaps he would be distracted and I could run away very fast.
I whacked at his tail and the shovel missed and went right past.
.
This angered him because right out his nose came red hot flame.
He was now as big as the entire wall and he called out my name.
“Billy Ray” he said “there’s no need to fight as you can’t win.”
I could see he now had a red hot pitch fork smoking on the ends.
I was so frightened that my little body was shaking with fear.
I started to cry and crawled under the bed to hide the big tears.
And I begin to think what would my mother do if she were here.
All of the sudden, it hit me as if she had whispered it in my ear.
I prayed to the Lord, “please free me from my fears from satin.
And lead me down the path of righteousness away from him.”
I looked up and he was gone away and I no longer was afraid.
I said “thank you Lord,” and my inner peace was surely made.
I wondered what I had done to make me vulnerable to his grasp.
My Mom said the devil will often try to tempt you as it is his task.
Just follow The Lord your God and He will lead you on your way.
I got some help from above and no longer did my little mind stray.

I had a very active imagination when I was five years old. Almost any shadow or movement at night would set it into motion.
Thanks for reading Dancing With The Devil,
