Close To The Bottom
.
There really was a lot of stuff in that old trunk of ours,
We keep on pulling stuff out with not too much power.
That seems to be worth writing a story poem to record.
Some old memories before I lose my ability to restore.

Close To The Bottom
.
Inside there was some special art signed by the artist,
My Mom made on a 3 inch thick board at my request.
It’s a bull that I hung on my wall for many long years,
And at some point packed it away with a few of my tears.
This picture of O.M Low (Mom) was packed in the trunk too.
.
.
There was a nice shawl in there Pam’s Mom had worn,
Pam tried it on and it looked fine as the shawl was reborn.
It actually looked pretty good on her standing there,
But she didn’t think she wanted to keep it out to wear.
.
.
There was an old pair of short pants Mom made for me,
That didn’t look too good on me as I recall, you see,
Because my Mom never was too good at being a taylor,
And the clothes she made were not always my favorite.
.
.
There was a nice set of silk sheets inside used to wrap,
Other stuff we had put there to store with other crap.
I bought those sheets in Singapore when I was there,
But Pam didn’t like slick silk sheets on her little rear.
.
.
There was a framed picture of a 3 D girl with sass.
That we weren’t able to place from far in the past.
So we decided to pull it out of the trunk in our world,
And give it to Sarah as it matches the decor of our girl.
.
We also found a lock of Kristi’s hair at the age of nine,
Her hair was so pretty, all soft, silky, and ever so fine.
It’s hard to believe that Kristi has a daughter of her own,
Named Sarah that just had her tenth birthday at home.
.
.
There was a book called The Junior Instructor Book 2,
In a yellow cover I read several times all the way through.
Book 1 was green, but I guess it tore up on the way,
This one came from Mom’s bookcase after she passed away.
If you look closely, you can set pressed images and the book title in the yellow.
.
.
There was a box with old papers in it from a while back,
I have picked out a few to illustrate some of the batch.
There will be a little explanation to help understand,
What I saw there from the perspective of this old man.
On the left is a note Kristi wrote to her Mom. On the right is an envelope Tamara placed under her pillow for the tooth fairy.
This was a card I whipped up quick to get me out of deep dodo. I think it was the flowers that saved me, however.
.
.
There were two hankies in there belonging to Pam,
When she was a very young lady free on the lamb.
One was hand embroidered by her Mom on the run
The other was a Mickey Mouse hankie looking so fun.

. .
I do believe we will hit the trunk bottom on the next trip,
Then we’ll have to put all of that stuff back on the ship.
You can’t imagine how much fun we have both had,
Awaking old memories from way back deep in our past.
