Action Toons
.
Action Toons take a little longer to draw in my free time,
But I seem to have plenty of time to draw and to rhyme.
So these toons are a bit different about people I know well,
And fun things we have done together for quite a spell.
.
.
.
.
I have spiced up the action toons with some fine old photos,
To help those involved to remember those times on the go.
And familiarize future generations with people I did know,
So they can read the poems with drawings and photos slow.

We went to Colorado in the winter a time or two a while back,
We went to the piney woods and cut a tree like a lumber jack
There was little animals there near the small tree we cut,
To take home for Christmas with a cutting permit that I got.

My Dad was an expert at spin casting the Rio Grande River,
He fished with a Panther Martin spinner in a hot fishing fever.
He tossed upstream and reeled back in at a very fast speed,
Catching lots of trout as on those spinners they tried to feed.

My brother in law Pete has an uncanny mechanical ability,
To understand how things work with very little difficulty.
He built lots of things around his home for the family,
To make life easier and make things better for all to see.

In the 1970s, I hunted ducks with Craig, my younger brother,
We went a lot during the waterfowl season with one another.
We got a natural high as we rose to fire at the incoming ducks,
And got a little higher when we saw them fall near the truck.

One year I went deer hunting in the New Mexico Mesa country,
About an hour out, I spotted a large mule deer not far from me.
He was in my crosshair so I fired, and he dropped to his knees.
I had my 10 point buck and whipped Buffalo Bob with ease.

I did a competition clog routine with Gary very straight fiorward
We did an old man routine called “Too Old To Cut The Mustard”.
With a loud Fart in the intro to get us started off right.
Then danced with wooden canes as on our feet we were light.

I fished Lake Meredith for Wall Eyed Pike after work with Dad,
In his bass boat fully equipped to catch fish with this lad.
I recall one night I caught a 7 pound Wall Eye that did fight,
We cleaned all those fish before going to bed that night.

My grandson Ben plays football for the Broken Arrow Tigers,
He plays guard to block for the offense and is a real fighter.
He made the all star team this year as he played quite well,
I loved to watch him play this year and his story I do now tell.

We clog danced with an exhibition clog group called “Misques”.
For fun for us and all the audiences we danced for in twos.
We wore very funny costumes that everyone did love,
Gene danced with Pam in our fun group blessed from above.

From the time I was very young, I fished the Grand Lake docks,
We went in the wintertime to catch the white crappie stock,
Usually around Thanksgiving when it was cold outside.
We caught lots of crappie sitting there fishing side by side.

I often wonder what I would do in my old age with no memories,
Having blank pages in my mind would would be the end for me,
I know people well who no longer recognize their spouse,
Their lives must be pure hell that I could not live with in my house.
