Over the years, we develop an acquired taste for some of the better wines and beers available out there in the world today. Here’s a brief review the tastes I have developed.

Wine

I like a little good wine occasionally, but I have found that you can’t get enough information at the local liquor store to make an informed decision on which wine to buy. I, therefore, order all my wine on line a case at a time. I prefer white wine such as a Chardonnay or a Sauvignon Blanc over red wine. I have been purchasing all the wine I buy from the Carlo Russo Wine Store on line because they provide a good written description of each wine for an informed decision on what you are buying. They also provide the Wine Advocates (WA) and the Wine Enthusiasts (WE) rating scores for the wine you are purchasing on a scale of 0 to 100. You can usually find a good wine with a WA rating of at least 90 and a WE rating of at least 90 for under $20 a bottle. I have never gone wrong using this criteria for purchasing wine on line and I have never had any problems with the shipments. We don’t drink a lot of wine any more except occasionally when we have family in visiting. It is nice to be able to provide wine that is high quality and pleasing to the palate when we do have company.
Wines selected by the above criteria are always good. No need to select wines by trial and error anymore.

Beer

For Honky Tonk beer drinking, it doesn’t make to much difference which beer you drink because after you get four of them down, they all taste good. I always preferred Bud light and Coors light for the Honky Tonk scene because they are available almost everywhere and they are not too expensive. However, when I sit down with friends to drink beer for pure pleasure, the taste, the flavor, and the quality are important. Just a few of the good sipping beers include Deuchars IPA, Harps Lager, Heineken Lager, and Amstel Light. I have slowed way down on my beer drinking, but I still enjoy some of the better beers occasionally.
Some of the fine beers I have acquired a taste for over the years. Try them, you’ll like them.
