A Ride In The Jungle
.
Sometimes I write down a title of what I’m thinking about
And I sit down and just start writing whatever pops out.
It’s fun to free style to see if a poem will even make sense,
As a tall tale is written in minutes trying not to sound dense.

A Ride In The Jungle
.
I was walking in the deep jungle one day a while back,
When I saw a large Gazelle with one hell of a big rack
I asked him if he would bend down and give me a ride.
Then I climbed on to his back and held on to his hide.
.
He took off running faster than the wind in a hurricane,
Through the fern bushes slapping my legs causing pain,
I grabbed his horns holding on with my hands so tight.
As just then he jumped over a log with all of his might.
.
In the bushes on the right there was a pair of yellow eyes,
Watching us so very closely as we ran swiftly right on by.
Then a ferocious looking lady lion jumped out on our ass,
She was close behind and just missed my leg on first pass.
.
My Gazelle was dodging and jerking from side to side,
Trying to lose that lion chasing us wanting to eat our hides.
We came to a ditch about 20 feet wide full of boulders,
And my Gazelle jumped across with me on his shoulders.
.
I was almost thrown to the stones as we flew on across,
But I was able to keep my grip or my life would be lost.
The lion jumped right behind us but didn’t make the leap,
She hit boulders striking her head making her dead meat.
.
.
The Gazelle kept running fast for one or two more miles.
Then gradually slowed to a stop giving me a big smile.
I hopped off of his back and said “thanks for the fun ride,
But next time I’ll find an elephant to protect my back side.”
.
I have to admit that I felt kind of like Tarzan of the apes,
Riding through the jungle on a Gazelle’s back feeling great.
Being chased by a hungry mama lion right on our ass.
So I let out a loud Tarzan yell like I had heard in the past.
.
The Gazelle just shrugged and turned and walked away,
Saying “I’m heading on out to get me in a little fun play,
All the lions will be eating the lion that died out there today,
So I’ll see you later if you ever again get on out this way.”
.
I walked deeper into the jungle after I told the Gazelle bye,
Thinking what a long rough fun ride, as we almost did fly.
If you ever get out to the jungle and want a very fun ride.
Look up that Gazelle with lion claw marks on his backside.
