My Little Man
.
I think we all know there’s something inside that helps us along,
As we get in mischief living life often doing bad things so wrong.
This poem tells about that little man right inside of my body,
That kept me in line when I often did those awful things so shoddy.

My Little Man
When I was a very young happy boy about the age of three,
I found out there was a little man living right there inside of me.
He came out after I hit my bird dog Freckles with a big stick.
And scolded me telling me my dog loved me and what I did was sick.
.
I am so sorry Freckles, I will never ever hit you with a stick again.

He popped out again when I was just five following by my side,
After I had played too rough with the neighbors pup that died.
He followed me all day telling me over and over I had done wrong.
He said what I did was very bad, so he would be there very long.
.
Oh my gosh, what has happened. I feel so bad about about what I accidentally did.
.
.
..
I noticed that day that the little man looked exactly like I did.
He was a spitting image that was like a twin to the this little kid.
He always stayed around talking to me about my own bad deeds.
Until I got the feeling of deep remorse and him did begin to heed.

.
I told my Mom about the little man that came out when I was bad.
She said it was one of my angels, the name of Conscience he had,
And he will come and talk to you if you feel you’ve done wrong,
Be very proud he’s always there to help, just tagging along.

When I was eleven, I swiped some cigars at Jolly’s drug store.
On the way home smoking that stogie, he was there once more.
He said you’ll have to pay the price for stealing you do know.
When I got home I had turned green, and the puke did flow.

I was sixteen and my brother was nine when I did him harm.
I lost my temper and and slammed a glass window on his arm,
Slicing him bad with stitches making him look like frankenstien.
My little man stayed out for days after hurting Craig that time.
.
.So sorry Craig, I promise I will not hurt you again..

I guess that little man inside of me keeps me squared away,
And I might be in one of those prisons if he ever had strayed.
I’m so thankful he was always right there for me when needed,
Keeping me on the right path when my good side often receded.

I often see those shows on TV about people who lost their angel.
They had no Conscience at all and were left out there to dangle.
Becoming evil people doing evil deeds that have to be put away.
I bet they wish that their angel had not left them and strayed.

As I have changed over the years, I noticed my little man did to.
I guess he is really the good inside of me trying to see me through.
I owe that little man a whole lot as I did some things so bad,
He talked to me to fix me up in that strong voice that he had.
.
My Little Man had many faces like me over the years..

When the little person inside of your children sings his little song,
Be sure they listen very closely as he tries to help them along.
They will surely become great people with a family they love,
As the right direction the little person of theirs will often them shove.
