How Do I Blog

How Do I Blog

.

A blog is a truncation of the term Weblog. It is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete entries or “posts” which may be personal information relating to the blogger. Since I have spend a lot of time blogging in the past year, here’s a little information about how I got started and how I do it.

How Do I Blog

.

My daughter Tamara suggested I start a blog to have something to do in my free time after I retired from working. She set me up an account with “WordPress” and spent sometime teaching me how to make the posts on one of our trips to visit them in Frisco. We did some brainstorming and decided I would do a blog about seniors using the iPad. We titled it “Seniors With IPads” initially. After, I had done about 10 blogs, I found that I had done blogs about virtually all my knowledge about the iPad and needed to change the subject of my blogs. The last blog or two I wrote were about how I used the Notes feature of the iPad to write stories about my life experiences. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I then decided to add a sub title to my blog called “The Story Of My Life.” This got me rolling with a little more  help from Tamara.

To begin, I sat down and brainstormed and wrote down two ot three pages of life events that were unusual, funny, strange, weird, bad, good and so on. I then picked one event from the list and picked up my iPad. I went to Notes and drafted the story with about 600 to 1500 words. I proofed the draft and copied it to memory. I opened my “Word Press” account and hit Add New. I pasted my draft from memory onto the blog page. I then formatted it how I wanted to, and went to my photos from my iPad or from the iCloud and selected the photos I wanted to illustrate the blog. I  inserted them into the blog at the appropriate location within the blog. So in about 2 hours I had gone from an event idea to completed blog which I then published. Tamara set it up such that when I published a blog, it would automatically go to Pam’s Facebook also to get a little wider distribution.

Sometimes something jars an old memory loose and allows a continuance of the blog.

So far I have repeated the above process for 287 times in the past year thus publishing 287 blogs to this date. I have run out of additional ideas to blog about twice now and announced that I was shutting down, but that old brain of mine keeps uncovering another wrinkle and so I have continued a little longer.
