As we go through life we learn lots of good lessons,
From our daily activities and some special sessions.
This poems talks about some things that I learned,
And describes some minor and major lessons I earned.

I was 5, I was carrying out the trash to the burn drum,
The neighbor lady called me over to help her some.
She said her big dog had puked all over the kitchen floor
And it made her sick just to be in the room with the gore.

.

She asked me if I would clean the huge mess up by her baby,
I said …I guess..because I didn’t yet no how to say no to a lady.
The puke looked like brown gravy and smelled like rotting meat.
As I mopped it up, I was gagging and sick there on my feet.

.

Never again did I say I would do a job I could not endure
The lesson I learned was to say …No, I can’t do it for sure.
The lady paid me fifty cents for a job worth at five dollars
And I said ..Gee thanks, and it just made me want to maul her.

When I was 9, a young lady named Patricia lived right next door.
She was 11, and was a very good looker with long hair and more.
She called me over one day and ask if I wanted to learn to kiss.
I said ….I guess..so she started the lesson that was pure bliss.

.

We got down in the heavy bushes next to our neighbors porch,
She crowded in real close and said…You ready to light the torch?
First she showed me the basic smooch with the touch of her lips,
I enjoyed this greatly as we practiced on our little fantasy trip.

.

She said.. Do you want to try the frenchy? And I said..I guess so.
The lesson I learned was to say…Yes to young ladies you know.
The experience can be very rewarding and will make you grow.
Such fun she had while teaching me everything she did know.

When I was 16, I started to smoke because it seemed so cool.
I would take my dad’s tobacco and roll it in paper from school.
Later I started buying Winston cigarettes for a quarter a pack.
By this time I was hooked on nicotine and could not go back.

.

By the time I reached 43, I was smoking three packs a day,
And it was clear that smoking caused lung cancer and may,
Result in cancer for others inhaling second hand smoke.
I was coughing and very short of breath, and that’s no joke.

.

With help from my daughters, I just quit smoking cold turkey,
I coughed up nasty black yucky stuff for a full year, you see,
And never smoked again which allowed me to feel much better.
I could taste food again and I became a very big go getter.

.

The lesson here for me was that smoking was never ever cool,
But rather it was ruining my health making me feel like a fool.
But worse, it was endangering the health of family and friends,
And would certainly have hastened my death in the end.

.

So a bit of advice to all you young people out there in the sun,
Never smoke that first cigarette or you will certainly be the one
To endanger your health and your friends and families too.
So just say no thank you and reap the rewards just for you.
