There’s a wildlife preserve and museum not too far,
Just a few miles from Bartlesville in our RAV4 car,
Called Woolaroc created by Frank Phillips years ago,
Where we go to have fun with our grandkids as they grow.

We head on out there at least one time every year,
Usually when the Mountain Man village is active there.
There’s fun things to do at the village the kids do adore,
And there’s lots of preserve wildlife by the road galore.

In the tents down where the mountain men dwell,
The mountain men have old stories to the kids to tell.
There are even artifacts that can be inspected by hand,
And even a raccoon that loves all the kids, so grand.

There was a guy that made a hat from the skin of a Bob Cat
And he let our Sarah try on that nice Bob Cat hat.
She looked like a natural born mountain girl out there,
With a great big old smile on her face looking so fair.

There was a mountain man hatchet throw for all to try,
Pam picked it up and gave it a toss letting it really fly.
That hatchet stuck going deep in the middle log center,
Then every one else took a turn at being a big winner.

There was also a black powder rifle to shoot at a target.
Pam and Ben got the bullseye which was hard to hit.
Pam was good with the hatchet and the rifle too.
So I was good to her the rest of that whole day through.

We headed on over to the area outside the museum,
There was a statue of an Indian and we did see him.
Sarah tried dancing an Indian dance with no band,
Then the kids climbed the tower looking over the land.

They then checked out the small animals penned there,
There were tiny horses and goats giving them a stare,
They petted them softly when they came near them.
Then they sat close and watched them in their little pen.

We headed into the museum and I got a fat boy wheelchair.
Ben pushed me around to see the western art there,
The art was simply awesome as I did just sit and stare.
We fooled around just a bit too, near that art so rare.

There were lots of other displays we looked at on the floor,
As we moved from room to room looking for more.
Kristi liked the bronze prairie chickens there to see,
As she used to study them out on the Tall Grass Prairie.

We always see something different as we see it again,
So we’ll wait a while longer, and see what’s new then.
If you haven’t made it out that way in a long while,
Try it again and you will see Woolaroc’s new style.
