Our Third Child

Our Third Child

.
In May of 2001, our third child arrived and we were elated,
She was a beautiful bundle of joy for which we had waited.
We pampered her and grew to love her with all our hearts,
As we raised our little bitty baby girl, we were rarely apart.

By the year 2001, our two girls had left home on their own,
Mom and Dad and MaMo and PoPo were also now gone
On up into heaven and we were left here feeling all alone.
So we found a child named Cutsie and brought her home.

She was a white and brown Shih Tsu puppy soft as silk,
Who we pampered, loved and fed puppy food and milk.
That puppy soon grew to a young lady, a real beauty,
Who we walked twice a day as she enjoyed that duty.

We loved those walks with our Cutsie back in those days,
She marked every single pole with her pee along the way,
So other dogs would know the Queen was here to stay.
When they sniffed her odor she refreshed twice a day.

She walked proudly at the end of her leash on the street.
With her little feet just a tapping out her own special beat,
She looked like she was walking downhill all of the time.
As her back legs were longer than the front ones so fine.

If we went out to eat, Cutsie was there on the car seat.
She loved to ride in the car when we drove on the street.
We only took her on cool days, but she just loved her trips,
We got her water and an Arby’s roast beef for her own lips.

She had her own little bed where in our den we all sat,
But she usually hopped up in my easy chair like a cat,
And laid between my out stretched legs so she could see,
All the fun action going on in there with Pam and me.

I bought these animal puppets so she could play with me,
As she sat in my chair seeming as comfortable as can be.
I would make growling sounds as I attacked with that doll,
And Cutsie would go after that stuffed animal with her all.

When we left her alone for a day or two in someone’s care.
She was always so happy when we returned home there.
She would jump in my lap and give me kisses on my ears,
While she was hopping around so happy I was now near.

At Christmas time when the family came to our fine home,
Cutsie was right in the middle of everything going on.
She loved to wear her cute Santa hat when I wore mine,
Being right in the center of the festivities all the time.

We became so very close to that little dog we so did love,
It was hard on us when she was called to heaven above.
This was the third child that Pam and I raised ourselves,
Now she sits in our den right behind me on the shelve.
