Country Rhythm Memoirs

After clogging with the Trailblazer’s in Broken Arrow,
And being forced to always walk the straight and narrow,
Some of the troops decided to break on away then,
And Country Rhythm Cloggers were born on a whim.

To make it work I decided to teach beginner lessons,
Here in Bartlesville and lease a dance hall for sessions.
After beginner lessons, we had a regular clog dance,
For the intermediate and advanced dancers to prance.

Touch step, touch step, touch step , rock step

I wrote most of my own beginner routines after work,
To music that I liked with a good beat with a perk.
Breaking down each step and repeating until learned,
Working the steps into a routine to music that burned.

Let’s mess with the instructor today.

I worked my students hard and they all loved it so.
On graduation day, we all dressed up there on the go.
The new students all got a diploma as they did pass,
Then in four weeks we started a new beginner class.

My first class on dress up graduation day.

After classes in the evening  with experienced dancers,
We decided to work on competition as good fun advancers,
We worked up routines that were so fun for us to learn,
As all of us fun loving cloggers were beginning to burn.

Look, it’s Country Rhythm Cloggers heading for competition.

After a few months, we had a lot of fresh new dancers,
That wanted to do exhibitions so they could be prancers.
So the ladies coordinated blue and white new outfits.
And we took them out in the streets to dance with grit.

We had new young dancers joining our kids for competition,
On a team called The Rhythm Masters for our new addition.
So we all worked hard after classes for routine perfection,
To compete in National Clogging Competition in Branson.

We took Country Rhythm and Rhythm Masters to Branson.
That special clogging year and did well in our competition,
We were all so proud of our new clogging teams that won,
Many trophies in Branson on our special try on the run.

I ran across this old newspaper clipping in our files,
That reported our success in very much detail with style.
I had forgotten how good we did there that fine year.
I’m sure we celebrated at BT Bones with some beer.

We came a long way starting from scratch that year,
Going full speed having fun on a new clogging adventure.
We were still dancing with the Miscues the whole time,
I guess we were going full speed our good fun to find.
