True Friends

True Friends

.

Friend” is defined as someone of whom you are fond,
And share a mutual affection with, a very tight bond.
I would go further and even call it a brotherly love,
For the two people I called “True Friend” I write of.

True Friends

.

There have been two men I can call a True Friend,
As I have lived my life here on this world we all live in,
I am proud to say they were both generous fun loving men,
That I spent a lot of time with over my short life span.

.

My first True Friend was called Dale when we first met,
At square dance lessons in Bartlesville in a fun set.
I could tell right away I was going to like Dale a whole lot,
Having so much fun together there I have not forgot.

Dale is kind of smoking in the center and I’m at the far right.

.

We became close friends and formed a dancing group,
We called the Mickey Mouse Club fun loving troop.
We had many friends in that group through the years,
But Dale grew closer to me than the others I do fear.

I’m in the back row center, Dale is on the back row far right.

.

Dale was so generous while we were out there at play,
Snow skiing, boating, dancing and eating out on our way.
When Dale moved away, he kept in very close touch,
And we planned activities to get back together so much.

.

I trusted this man Dale with my whole heart and soul,
And things we did together meant a lot growing old.
When we got together we would sit and talk for hours,
About things new and old, laughing with True Friend power.

.

I loved that man called Dale and I do deeply regret,
I was unable to go to his funeral, but I did not forget,
I was very ill at the time and was unable to travel,
I think of Dale often as my years continue to unravel.

.

My second True Friend goes by the name of Gene,
We met clogging at Willow Hall in the Tulsa scene.
Later we formed Misques And The Cuties with others,
A fun loving exhibition clog dancing group together.

Gene and I are standing together on back row center.

.

We traveled all over together over on a ten year run,
He was Pam’s partner and I was his wife Linda’s so fun.
Gene would do anything to help out anyone in need.
He was one of a kind, certainly a very special breed.

.

Every where we went Gene had a friend in the crowd,
As he worked for Ma Bell from Muskogee to Stroud.
Always such a nice guy everywhere that we went
Kind of like he was a True Friend from heaven sent.

Gene and I chugging beer.

.

We still get over to see Gene and Linda in our old age,
Talking about old times back on that exhibition stage.
We love these True Friends from our younger years,
Having a good time reliving those times with joy tears.

I’ve run out of verse room in this story poem this time,
And I surely had so many other good friends so fine.
But these two were very special True Friends of mine.
As we traveled lifes road, so I wrote this little rhyme.
