The Old Man

The Old Man

.

I met an old man sitting in his chair one fine spring day,
So I sat down there beside him to see what he had to say.
He looked at me and broke into a great big happy smile,
Then said “Hello, I have been waiting for a long while.”

(As told from Cutsie’s point of view.)

The old man said “I used to be young forever just like you,
Until my body wore out long before I was ready for it to.
All I can do now is tell life stories of the things I did do.
When some one will listen to my old stories so true.”

I thought to myself, “I have a couple of free hours today,
So I’ll sit here and listen to what the old man has to say.”
I told the old man “Tell me a story if you want me to stay”
He grinned real big and said “Okay then we’re on our way,”

“One time my Dad, my brother and I were rafting along,
On the Rio Grande River catching those brown trout so long,
We were on private property fishing down the big river,
Where we caught a limit with our trout fishing fever.”

“We got off of the river after we cleared the private land,
And there waiting for us was the land owner, a mad man.
He hollered and screamed a while until we told him the law,
It’s legal to float the river if you don’t step on the land at all.”

The angry landowner threatened to call the sherif then,
My brother told him go ahead and we will sue you and win,
He mumbled something and stomped off in a big huff.
We rafted the river through his property again after his bluff.”

I said “Wow that was quite a story” and started to get up,
He said “Wait, I have another story about my good pup,”
So off he went telling about a dog named Hugo Leo Lardo Low.
I asked him later why he didn’t still do those things, but slow.

He said “it started with my feet as diabetes hit me,
My feet got all numb and tingly hurting bad, you see,
Then my arteries in my legs blocked off as I had smoked before,
The pain as I walked was bad and made my legs sore.”

On top of that, I had hemorrhoids that made my butt hurt,
Then my heart slowed down making me feel much worse,
Now my eyes are going bad and I can just barely see,
So about all I can do now is to tell the stories about me.”

.
I told the old man “why don’t you put your stories in writing
As long as your eyes hold out and you have good lighting.
Then you’ll leave your legacy for your future family,
To read and enjoy long after your days until eternity.”

Why don’t you put your stories in writing

.

The Old Man thanked the young lady saying “Thank You”,
Then started a blog called Hawg Jaw Bill with stories so true,
To be read now and in the future by family who want to.
They will learn a lot about Hawg Jaw to see them through.

Thank You
