The Green Weenie

The Green Weenie

.

This is a story that happened in Bartlesville, USA,
To Pam and I as we did our daily routine on our way,
It’s not so exciting as we were old and retired too,
But it was something to talk about to keep away the blues.

On Tuesday mornings, we had breakfast at Weeze’s Cafe.
At about 8 AM in the early morning to start our fine day.
We would then open up the Goodwill Store to shop,
For stuff to sell at Pam’s booth at Gan’s Mall so hot.

Weeze’s is a great place to eat breakfast.

.

Tuesday was seniors day with 25% off for old farts,
So we got there just before the door opened to start,
Our shopping before all the good junk was long gone,
To stock Pam’s booth and keep it full for our fun.

The Bartlesville Goodwill Store

.

When we got to the store, there was always a car there,
That was an ugly green Volkswagen bug, I do declare,
After a while when we saw it as we did arrive to shop,
We said, “It’s the Green Weenie again” we better hop.

Look Pam, the Green Weenie beat us here again.

.

In the Green Weenie was a young pretty blonde lady,
That looked kind of like a TV star named Carol Brady.
She would be at the door when the store opened up,
The first one inside, headed for the girls clothes so abrupt.

There’s that lady that looks like Carol Brady waiting at the door.

.

We saw the Lady in the Green Weenie a lot in those times,
And she brought in her high school daughter, so fine,
That she had been dressing so well building her wardrobe,
A while before the Green Weenie disappeared off the globe.

.

We surmised the young lady took the Green Weenie away,
To college here in Oklahoma somewhere like OSU to stay.
And that ended our fun talking about Green Weenie then,
But every once in a while we see an ugly green Volkswagen.

Now where did that Green Weenie go, it’s been gone a long time.

.

And holler out, “look it’s the Green Weenie back in town,”
Recalling the lady and daughter, as we acted like clowns,
Still having fun with a car and family we never even met,
Do you think we might have been a bit bored in retirement?

.

It wasn’t too long after that when Pam closed her booths,
So we quit going early when we went, I tell you the truth.
If we stop there, it is after lunch as Pam still loves to shop.
I sit in the soft easy chair in there and just people watch.

Pam looking for bargains in that Goodwill store.

.

I guess all my clothes I wear now came from Goodwill,
So you could now call old Hawg Jaw second hand Bill,
If fact, most of my clothes the last 5 years I did work,
Were from the Goodwill giving me that debonair look.

That’s me sitting in the Goodwill’s easy chair. That hat, my shirt, the shorts, the belt,  my Jockey underwear, and the socks came from this Goodwill Store.

.

You can get clean clothes there of the latest style,
At only one tenth the price making it oh so worth while.
Lately more and more people have figured this out,
So you can’t find as many bargains as
 you’re out and about.

One of the sights I saw, people watching from my easy chair.
