The Cruise

The Cruise

.

Back in June of 2006, we took an 11 day cruise in Alaska land.
With my brother Craig and his wife Rhonda feeling so grand.
There was four days in Alaska and seven days cruising back,
Along the Alaskan coast to Saskatchewan on a wonderful track.

We flew to Anchorage, Alaska to a very nice hotel the first night,
And ate at a wonderful seafood restaurant that was a delight.
The next morning we took a train up north with scenery so great.
We viewed through glass topped train cars what God did create.

We stopped at a small village called Talkeetna and got on a bus,
Which took us to the Talkeetna Lodge with a view causing a fuss,
The snow topped mountain view just took all your breath away.
Inside was a huge fireplace with a warming fire begging us to stay.

After our wonderful stay there, we rode the train back to Anchorage,
And spent the night there again picking up the rest of our luggage.
We got on a bus and drove up Cook inlet seeing Beluga whales
Along the highway running along the inlet, they looked so pale.

Our next night stop was at the beautiful Alyeska Prince Ski Hotel.
The awesome scenery at this location was the best I ever recall.
That evening we headed out and found some really good food,
I had deep fried golden brown halibut that was oh so very good.

The next day we headed on around to Homer on Cook Inlet.
We stopped at a glacier and a game refuge so no rest did we get.
We finally got to Homer and checked into a very nice hotel.
Our Celebrity cruise ship was docked ready to cruise for a spell.

We had a day there in Homer so we took a Cook Inlet sight seeing trip
We saw hundreds of seals on a rock island taking a cool dip,
And lots of whale tails as we traveled around on our big boat.
The views were just awesome as around that inlet we did float.

We loaded on the big cruise ship and moved into our rooms,
I had ordered an electric scooter that was waiting there to zoom,
Making me mobile as the rest of our group going anywhere aboard.
It was Craig, Rhonda, Pam, and I knowing we wouldn’t be bored.

They had dancing, gambling, bingo, massages, and much more,
Just to name a few things to get us started so we were not bored.
They had movies, live theater productions, and swimming too,
There were more activities there that you really had time to do.

Craig let’s not tell the girls

about this massage.

The actual Cruise part of the package was for seven short days,
They stopped for off ship excursions each day along the way.
We selected which ones we would do ahead of time for more fun.
So it seems with all that stuff to do, we were always on the run.

Craig and I fished for Salmon while the girls got a body wrap.
At Skagway, we all rode a train out the old gold rush days camp.
We went to the Saxon native Eskimo village to learn their customs,
And we stopped and watched the glacier ice fall in the sea in tons.

One of my favorite parts of the cruise was the evening meal.
The food was superb and the waiters gave us that rich guy feel.
We wore a coat and tie looking like we were in the elite crowd.
I think we all enjoyed being waited on with our heads in the cloud.

They had some good looking chicks that liked to hang on my arm,
Unfortunately, one was hanging on Pam’s arm with all her charm.
So I guess it wasn’t my good looks like I was at first thinking.
This left me with a very bad feeling and left my ego just sinking.

This eleven day cruise was absolutely fantastic in every respect.
It was fun, exciting, and so much more that I ever did really expect.
Thanks to Craig and Rhonda for setting it up for us to enjoy,
It was a great experience we are so happy that we did deploy.
