That Fifties Music

That Fifties Music

When I was I teenager I loved that fifties rock and roll,
As we circled the Post Drive
 In, around we would go,
Listening to Buddy Holly and Little Richard up so loud,
Looking for friends there with our heads in the clouds.

The Post Drive In, Borger, Texas. Check out the cool cars.

We also listened to Doo-wop and Rhythm and Blues,
That sounded so good as we cruised down Main too.
Honking at all the cars we thought that we knew,
Until about mid night when we hit our parents curfew.

Let’s play some 45 rpm records.

Anyone who grew up in fifties still loves those old songs
And when we hear them we still sing right on along.
My sister about drove me crazy with her Elvis 45s,
With those old 7 inch records that I still do recognize.

My  Sister, JerrylDine.

When I collected records later as a full grown man,
I bought Rock, Doo-wop, and R&B 45s all over the land,
So I will give you a quick look at some of my rare vinyl,
That you likely remember in that time we stood so tall.

.

I found Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Roy Orbison too,
These guys Rocked my world on the radio as I flew,
Through life as a teenager making me feel so fine.
Below are some of my 45s from the collection of mine.

.

Gene Vincent, Bobby Vee, and Chuck Berry we’re fine,
With those new rock sounds they made in that time.
It was a music revolution like the world never heard,
As we grew up listening to rock and roll tunes and words.

.

Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Big Bopper were out there to find,
Bo Diddley, Paul Anka, and Carl Perkins sang so fine,
The music was great through those years we were all there,
There were also Bobby Vinton, and Bobby Darin so fair.

Bill Haley and His Comets, and Danny and the Juniors,
Were in the mix too, with their jitterbug dance wonders.
What a fun time we had growing up way back then,
I think there will never be a music era like that again.

The Platters, Fats Domino, and Loyd Price, I found too,
These guys all sang that smooth rhythm and blues.
That always made you feel so very good deep inside,
As they took you way up high on a wonderful ride.

.

The Flamingos,  Marvelettes, and Elegants were fine.
As were many other groups springing up at that time.
There were hundreds of new labels popping up everywhere,
As the music went berserk in the fifties, I do swear.

.

Doo-wop artists came out by the dozens back then,
Many of them were one hit artists with only one win.
But that Doo- wop sounded so good as a new sound,
Our radios were loud and rarely ever turned down.

If you lived through that time, you’ll understand so well,
This old fifties music story poem that I just did tell,
If not, you will just have too take my word that it,
May have been the best time in music history yet.

.

Oh, there was some pretty good music in the sixties also,
When the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were on the go,
Credence Clearwater Revival were also quite red hot.
With their unique style of music we haven’t yet forgot.

PS: if you own Alexa, you can give her the song title and artist, and she will play these wonderful old songs for you. It will take you back to a wonderful time in music history.
