Roscoe And The Hens

Roscoe And The Hens

.

When a dog named Roscoe needed a new home to live.
There was a family that volunteered a home to him give.
The people names have been changed in this true story,
Because the people involved didn’t take him in for glory.

Roscoe And The Hens

.

There once was a shaggy young dog named Roscoe,
Who had a very bushy tail, ears, stomach and toes.
His family moved to a foreign country very far, far away,
So with the Brown’s he did then move right in to stay.

The Browns had a dog, so Roscoe felt out of place,
Their dog was called Scout who had a handsome face,
Roscoe was kind of shaggy and looked kind of rough.
So he modeled his actions after Scout looking tough.

Hey Scout, want to play a little?

.

.

.

Soon he began to fit in as just another family member,
And the Browns who loved him beginning in September,

Started to make memories they will always remember.
Will they live happily with this new dog family member?

.

.

.

.

The Browns have chickens they raise in the back yard,
Scout walks among them which has to be very hard,
As he is a bird dog with inbred instincts to kill birds,
He has adjusted well to fit into the hen chicken herd.

.

..

I wonder If Roscoe will live in harmony with all the hens,
Or will his dog instincts tell him to attack again and again.
Requiring all the Browns to eat lots of chicken pot pie,
Let’s hope none of the family hens will ever have to die.

.

.

.

.

The grandkids have become really attached to the hens,
They give them all names when they first do get them.
So I hope Roscoe will quickly adjust and fit right on in.
Sharing the back yard with all of their favorite pet hens.

The last time I visited the grandkids at their own home,
They had two new hen chicks living in a box there alone.
They got them out and put them right on top of my chest,
They pecked around there thinking my beard was a nest.

They named the chicks, Fluff Foot and Feathers,so cute,
That pecked around in my beard looking for some loot,
As if they thought there might be a few ticks in there.
One grabbed a brown mole and it hurt just a bit, I do fear.

.Dig in guys, there might be a few ticks in there.

.

.

.

.

.

.

I kept thinking about that time when I was just a small boy,
When my Easter chick pecked the pupil of my eye so coy.
That little scratch felt like I had a big rock there in my eye,
Giving me three whole weeks of misery causing me to cry

.

.

.

.

So Roscoe, we think you will adjust to life with the hens,
Learning to live in harmony with this new life you’re in.
If so, you will be loved by everyone so you can be a friend,
To Scout and also mingle in the backyard with the hens.

i will not attack those hens, I will not attack those hens,…..
