My Talented Mom

My Talented Mom

.

In the past, I’ve touched on my Mom’s art so fine.
As she was a very talented artist back in her time.
I have a lot of her best art work here in our home,
Which I will share with you now, before I am gone.

I will now review Mom’s art work I’ve shared before,
Including an oil of me, and two charcoals I adore,
Of my Dad and Granddad looking good for us to see,
And an oil of two bulls fighting Mom painted for me.

There was also a painting I requested specially from her,
From a picture in a magazine that I loved for sure.
Mom said it was the hardest thing she ever did do,
Last year, I gave it to Tamara to see her on through.

Remember, if you see demons first, you are basically bad, and if it’s angels first, basically good.

These next two oil paintings hang on the wall in our den,
They are sunflowers and yuccas in bloom once again,
I loved these paintings the first time I saw them on the run,
So Mom gave both of them to me way back in 1971.

I have a country scene she did hanging over the fireplace,
Because it is so relaxing and looks good in that space.
Mom had an uncanny ability to paint things so realistic,
And that’s one reason I thought the art was so fantastic.

In our kitchen hangs a picture of a fine young boy,
Getting his first haircut kind of feeling so very coy.
This boy could be Doug or maybe Nicholas either one.
But she may not have intended it to be relatives as done.

In our kitchen there are two rose still lifes she did,
By now you have seen the great talent that she had.
She always framed her art work in beautiful frames,
Making her work look so good after she signed her name.

The next beautiful picture of an old country road,
Hangs over the big China hutch stately and bold,
In our dining room way up high for everyone to see.
Mom’s pictures add class to our home for Pam and me.

Over the grandfather clock in our living room so high,
Is a painting of roosters fighting over a hen on the fly.
Just look at the colors she put in this piece of art.
She put the paintings together well as she was so smart.

In our entry above the coat rack is a painting of a lake.
Mom said it was based on a photo she once did take,
Of Lake Meredith near by from up on top of a bluff,
I remember that view from that country so rough.

I’ve still got more of Mom’s art work from yesterday,
Hanging upstairs in our home that I proudly display.
My dear Mom had real painting talent in her heart,
So my next blog will extend this one as we do now part.
