My Career Milestones

My Career Milestones

.

I recalled a few of my career milestones of record,
That some people might call achievement awards.
So in this story poem I will document them here,
So some of my future generations may give me a cheer.

My Career Milestones

,

My first great achievement was surviving birth so special,
On February 20, 1943, in Phillips, Texas, Pantex Hospital.
I don’t remember much about that very special delivery,
But I still have a certificate that documents it, you see.

.

I attended Elementary and Junior High at Phillips schools,
From 1949 until 1957 for eight years in the student pool.
May 29, 1957, I graduated from Junior High there,
And received a signed graduation certificate, I do declare.

.

With the certificate in hand, I attended 4 years of High School,
To prove to the world that I certainly was not a fool,
On May 25, 1961, I graduated after standing in a long line
And received my Phillips High School Diploma at that time.

.

I wanted to better myself so I worked summers to help pay,
Expenses for Frank Phillips Junior College out Borger way,
For a pre engineering Associate in Arts College degree,
I secured May 29, 1963, while driving a school bus, you see.

.

Then I headed on down to Texas Tech College real fast,
To study for a Bachelor of Science degree at last,
In Mechanical Engineering for my future work profession,
That I secured May 28, 1966 walking through the procession.

.

I accepted a job with Phillips Petroleum making big dough,
As a training engineer in Borger, Texas you know,
And in November, 1968, I was inducted in the U. S. Army,
I served in Vietnam, then received a Discharge Honorably.

.

I came back to Borger and resumed my Phillips Career,
In Engineering and became a trained Process Engineer,
Then shortly thereafter married my wife Pam on the run,

To start our family and our life together with love and fun.

.

Soon I had worked for 30 full years for Phillips then,
Moving first to Oklahoma City, then Houston again.
Then on to Odessa, and on to Bartlesville to stay.
At Headquarters in Corporate Engineering, I do say.

.

I became a Professional Engineer sometime along the way,
To enhance my career while in Bartlesville one day.
As Principal Process Engineer all around the globe,
While performing my duties, as I just loved my job.

.

I received some achievement awards from management,
As I worked securing my place by Company enhancement.
Enjoying my work and the long international work trips,
Seeing so many parts of the world as around I did zip.

.

A “Master Of Process Technology” was awarded me,
For my proven Process Engineering skills professionally.
Which at the time really meant a lot to this old man.
I proudly display it on a shelf by my living room divan.

.

During those years, I received eleven U. S Patents,
In LNG Process areas which the Company did License.
To enhance the Company position to sell our process,
Which we worked very hard to make a big success.

.

I can recall when I was working hard back in time,
I couldn’t wait to retire and leave that work behind,
Now I must say that I do miss the work just a little,
As I think back to the good times I had with job riddles.
