Fred Shuffle, Beginning To End

Fred Shuffle, Beginning To End

.

Fred Shuffle was born in a parking lot in Branson, Missouri,
At Honeysuckle Inn at Rhythm Aces clog competition rally.
We wrote the dance to “Keep Your Hands To Yourself” one day,
By the Georgia Satellites just messing around there at play.

Let’s call it the Fred Shuffle Dance here in 1992.

So now you have the beginning way back in 1992 in Branson,
We perfected it and did it at the B. T. Bones club as we did run.
The crowd loved that dance as we wore checkered dew rags,
And the dance became an annual tradition of which we do brag.

The crowd here really likes the Fred Shuffle.

.

The last time I recall doing the Fred Shuffle was at Gary’s birthday,
That we were invited to attend in Tulsa at Joe’s Crab Shack to play,
The girls were gone from home at that time of our lives back then,
So we met the crew at Joe’s, Gary’s birthday party to then begin.

.

There was Gary and Paula with Casey and Brieann in the crew,
Also Karla and Wade with Haley and Casey were there too.
Finally, Pam and I were there to celebrate Gary’s big birthday,
As we got a big table at Joes to eat and have fun there at play.

.

At first Gary looked a little bit blue as together we started to play,
Until the waitress gave him a little kiss on the cheek on that day,
He perked right up and read his birthday card grinning so happily,
Then he said “Let’s do the Fred Shuffle while we act a little silly.”

.

So we hopped right up asking the waitress to play our own song,
Wade had a problem or he too would get up there to dance along.
We started doing the Fred Shuffle getting into the fine music beat,
And the waitress joined right in dancing along looking sweet.

.

And as I recall, that was the last time I did the Fred Shuffle dance,
So you could say that the Fred Shuffle came to an end by chance,
But we enjoyed that last fling with our old friends that fine day,
As we put the Fred Shuffle to rest to end many years of fine play.

.

But wait, the birthday party was not over as we buried that dance,
As Gary found a pair of playboy bunny ears to wear by chance,
He looked very nice as the waitress announced Gary’s birthday,
On that big hand held speaker as that birthday music did play.

.

Gary grabbed a crab shell bucket and beat it just like a little drum,
As the whole restaurant crowd sang birthday there on the run.
One thing you could depend on when Gary was around with you,
Was the whole place would be rocking too until you got through.

.

The finale for the happy birthday for Gary on that fun night out,
Was the giant free ice cream they brought him as he did shout.
His eyes got real big like he might be having some big doubts,
Whether he could eat it all as he acted silly as he tried it on out.

.

So that was the end of the Fred Shuffle for this old dog that night,
As I just can’t remember ever doing it again in public on my flight,
So I would like to put that Fred Shuffle dance to rest right here,
May he Rest In Peace after the great fun he gave us drinking beer.

RIP Fred Shuffle dance, we enjoyed your company.
