Folksy Country Music

.
In the 1960s, a style of music developed that I liked,
It was a sort of folksy country that sounded so nice.
I bought all the albums shown herein way back then,
And played them many times as a very young man.

.

Most of the group’s I liked were rough looking dudes,
That seemed to be interested in Marijuana so crude,
But they harmonized well with fine guitar music all around.
So they grew on me with their different country sound.

The “Byrds” had a song called “Mr Tamborine Man”
That had great music and a fine harmony of the band.
When I hear that song I always start to sing out loud,
The song is always available out there on the cloud.

“Turn, Turn, Turn” is another “Byrds” song that I love,
The lyrics are good telling a story that is a notch above.
The harmony of the Byrds heLps make the song appeal.
Sounding more like country than new country so unreal.

As the “Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young” group did play,
They perhaps had the best harmony of their day.
“Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” was a song that was awesome,
On my Fisher Speakers with 90 pound woofers turned on.

“Teach Your Children” was another song they sang,
That sounded so good to me with a country twang.
That special twangy sound made it one of my favorites.
I loved to listen with a Bud Light beer and savor it.

“Brewer and Shipley” seemed to be rebels at heart,
With songs fixated on ‘Mary Jo’ for the most part.
“One Toke Over The Line” is a fine example of this,
They harmonized well like a fine Roach with a twist.

“Oh, Mommy” is another song that appealed to me,
The opening sounds like a whining steel guitar, you see.
If you haven’t yet heard it, give it a listen if you wanna.
You may just “sit around the house and smoke Marijuana.”

.

“Simon and Garfunkel” sounded so good together,
“The Sounds Of Silence” was soft and easy like no other.
These guys ware born to sing songs like this so smooth,
It just makes you feel good as your nerves it soothes.

.

.
These guys also did “Mrs Robinson” for a cool movie,
I recall one part of the show that was really groovy,
When the Graduate grabs Mrs Robinson’s bare tit.
When I hear that song I think of it while grinning a bit.

“Goose Creek Symphony” was my very favorite group,
With a raw country twang sound I loved from that troop.
“Charlie’s Tune” is a good example of the special style,
I still have all of their albums that were oh so worthwhile.

.

.

“Number One Gravy Band” is a song so very strange.
It’s a little raw but I like it and would ask for no change.
I might go so far as to say that it’s a little bit crazy.
But the message is straight forward and not hazy.

Pull these songs up on your favorite streaming device,
And they will tale you back to a time so very nice.
Just close your eyes and kick back with a cool drink.
And you will be back there a lot quicker than you think.
