Drifting Back Again

Drifting Back Again

.

Pam worked yesterday teaching 5th graders again,
So I was home all by myself kind of bored in the den.
I asked Alexa to shuffle Bob Will’s songs on Prime,
And that Western Swing music started playing so fine.

Drifting Back Again

.

It was a cool day at 60 degrees with slow rain so sweet,
I was in my easy chair with my Snuggie on both feet.
I ask Alexa to put the volume on level 6 to play the songs,
I was on my iPad as “Time Changes Everything” came on.

.

The slow and easy song kind of put me to sleep then,
As my eyes were closing as I drifted in and out again.
I laid down my iPad and pulled the Snuggie over my head.
About the time that first song was over as I felt so dead.

.

As “Faded Love” came on, I drifted on back to a time,
At Jean’s Bar as I got Pam to dance to that song so fine.
We headed on out to the floor to belly rub so close,
Which was the dance I loved to do back then the most.

.

As “Bubbles In My Beer” came on, off to Broken Bow I went,
Sitting at the bar with Tamara and Wayco back then.
Sucking ice cold beer in one of those oversized mugs,
Watching the NBA playoffs on the TV feeling so smug.

.

On the wall there was a sign we all read and did adore,
We all laughed out loud as we talked on that floor,
Of the possibilities of getting free beer while there,
But our only lady would not allow her chest to be bare.

.

“Cotton Eyed Joe” came on next taking me on back,
To Mardee’s Club in OKC off of the beaten track.
Where we learned a circle dance in our cowboy hats.
To that fast song that helped us reduce all our fat.

.

“My Shoes Keep Walking Back To You” was the next song,
As I drifted back to the Moose Lodge gone now so long,
Pam and I were two stepping on that hardwood floor,
As Cotton Creek Band played live, who we both did adore.

.

“Stay A Little Longer” came on Alexa making me grin,
As I drifted back dancing with the Misques again,
I loved that clog routine we did so many times on the run,
That Tamara wrote for us when our group was very young.

.

“Big Balls In Cow Town” came up next sounding so supreme,
As I drifted back to when the Rhythm Aces did a show routine.
We wore those cow and bull costumes looking wild,
With big horns and no balls dancing with much style.

.

I continued to listen to Bob Wills songs for an hour,
Before coming out from under that Snuggie tower.
Back to the world feeling very refreshed and revived.
Thanks Bob Wills for the memories I have just relived.

Thanks Bob Wills, you’re the man !
