Dreaming Again

Dreaming Again

Sometimes when I’m all alone sort of feeling blue,
I drift off to dream to a very special place, it’s true,
Where I used to play with our whole family each year,
Loving every minute of our special time spent there.

Pam has gone off to work leaving me here on my own,
Alone in the den writing on my iPad here at our home.
I didn’t sleep good last night because of a back pain.
As I look out the window, falling is a soft gentle rain.

.

.

As I sit here in my old easy reclining chair so still,
And slowly close my eyes drifting off almost at will,
Visions of green valleys with blue rivers start to appear.
Making me feel as if I’m there in the mountain air,

.

.

The fresh scent of pine needles in the air I do catch,
And I see a red squirrel in a tree looking back to watch.
The sky is baby blue with white clouds drifting on by.
As a cool breeze kisses my cheek gently on the fly.

.

.

Distant purple hued mountains appear on the horizon,
As yellowish orange light streaks in from the morning sun.
On a young deer grazing in a lush green meadow.
Raising his head to look back with eyes that glow.

.

.

.
Off in the distance I hear a strange bugling sound,
And know it to be a bull elk calling on his home ground,
High on the side of a rocky mountain not too far away.
Where those majestic herds of elk do often play.

.

.

Off to the right is a river with ripples running fast,
With a soft bubbly sound as over the rocks it does pass.
I can see a trout flipping clear out of that cool stream,
Catching a May Fly out of mid air in the morning sun beams.

.

.

There is no doubt this is God’s country I drifted into,
With that Peaceful Easy Feeling through and through,
Kind of floating along as I visit that wonderful place,
Causing my old wrinkled heart to slow down its pace.

.

.

Suddenly, I hear loud music kind of shaking my dream,
And I realize it’s “Get Back” by the Beatles so clean.
That I use for my iPhone as the default ringer tone.
I pick it up and it’s my wife Pam on my Apple phone.

.

Checking to see how I’m doing as she’s off on her break.
Pam tells me about one boy in her class named Blake,
That has been giving her trouble since early today.
I tell her to hang in there and soon he’ll be on his way.

I guess when I’m all alone and things are just right,
I will always drift off to dream as my soul takes flight,
To the Rocky Mountains where our family spent time,
Enjoying life at that special mountain place so fine.
