Christmas At MaMo’s House

Christmas At MaMo’s House

.

Many times in the past, we loaded up all our gear,
To have our Christmas Dinner at MaMo’s so dear,
We stacked all the presents in our big custom van,
And hit the highway for a Christmas Holiday in Texas land.

Christmas At MaMo’s House

.
Pam, Kristi, Tamara and I were full of Christmas spirit,
As we headed on out for our traditional holiday visit,
With all our family living out in Borger back in those days,
MaMo often hosted Christmas Dinner for all on our stay.

We’re off to Christmas Dinner At MaMo’s Home.

.

MaMo’s house was full of baking aromas so very fine,
As she had baked her Christmas pies a day ahead of time.
There were apple, pumpkin, and pecan pies she did make
And she had coconut meringue pies in the oven to bake.

I’ve got the apple pie ready to cook, I’m working on the Pumpkin Pie now.

.

MaMo had made a batch of a candy called “Fours”,
That was so good it just made you float right off the floor,
She had also made her wonderful fudge full of pecans,
And a batch of white divinity made with her magic wand.

There was nothing as good as MaMo’s “Fours” candy.

.

PoPo was sitting cracking more pecans at the table.
As more were needed for Christmas dinner staples,
As MaMo used them in her dressing with a few oysters also,
And in her red Christmas jello salad that I did love so.

You sweet little Santa you.

.

We exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve with all our family,
That lived in and around Borger that we always did see.
Then headed back to MaMo’s home to get us some rest,
As tomorrow was Christmas Dinner Day in MaMo’s nest.

Thank you so much, just what I wanted you all.

Making the rounds to exchange gifts.

.

We got up early to help MaMo cook her fine meal,
She got the turkey in the oven with a real butter seal,
Then made her special dressing with oysters and pecans,
And made a nice giblet gravy for our holiday season.

This old bird is starting to get golden brown.

.

She cooked up green beans with onions and bacon,
And put in a nice bone in ham to get it started baking,
Then mashed up some potatoes with lots of soft butter,
Very creamy when with the butter she blended together.

We just love to have company for a traditional Christmas Dinner.

.

There was candied yams and red jello salad fixed too,
With a cranberry sauce for that holiday flavor so true.
And MaMo’s homemade hot rolls for a little soppin’,
Once we got started eating there was no stoppin’.

Bill, the hot rolls are coming out now.

.

There was MaMo, Popo, Pam, Kristi, Tamara, and me,
Buffalo Bob, Brenda, Chad, and Darena’s fine family.
Aunt Opel was there as well as my Mom and Dad too,
As we all ate Christmas Dinner until we were through.

MaMo, you’re the best cook in the whole world.

.

MaMo was the best cook in our family out Borger way,
So we dearly loved to go to her home for a holiday stay.
I think the whole family getting together to eat and play,
Was what made those memories as bright as the sun rays

Playing games after a wonderful Christmas Dinner.

As you have seen, MaMo Barringer was the star of this memory. Everyone must be eating good up in heaven.
