Buffalo Cardinal

Buffalo Cardinal

Sometimes the Lord works his great miracles in mysterious ways.
It’s the tiny small little things that with us often will always stay.
This short poem describes some events that recently occurred,
That may have been worth much more than these few words.

Buffalo Cardinal

A friend named Paula put a red cardinal on a Facebook post
With prose about a cardinal representing a loved one we lost.
I have been trapping squirrels using sunflower seeds out back.
I place the seeds on a tray on which the squirrel steps in the trap.

This is the post that Paula put on Facebook that started Pam watching for a red Cardinal visiting her.

The day the post was made, Pam started watching for the red birds,
She has been very sad since her brother Buffalo Bob’s death occurred.
We caught a very plump red Cardinal in the trap early the next day,
Pam talked to the Cardinal some before she let him go on his way.

Buffalo Cardinal kept returning to the trap to get caught so we would talk to him a while as he visited us.

We caught the same red Cardinal three more times in the rain.
Pam thought Bob was coming back to visit her to ease her pain.
We both talked to the bird each time he came to visit us here,
And named the bird “Buffalo” as we were sure it was him there.

The next day we caught Buffalo Cardinal two more times again.
Each time Buffalo seemed to be telling us something else then.
We think he was trying to tell us he had to get back to his heaven,
So we bid him farewell in the morning at about ten past eleven.

I think the visits were good for Pam giving her peace of mind,
Perhaps someone up there was trying to help her by being kind.
Who knows what wonders He works to help sad people in pain.
But
this is not the first time and I sure hope it will happen again.

We’re still missing Buffalo Bob. Love that yellow flower from Sarah’s birthday party.
