Buffalo Bob And Me

Buffalo Bob And Me

.
I met Buffalo Bob before I married my wife Pam in early 1973,
At first I wasn’t sure what my wive’s brother would mean to me.
But over the years, I grew to love him like Craig my own brother.
We teased each other, but we had a great respect for each other.

We had fish fries at our home in Fritch back in those days long ago.
With some hot card games after we finished eating, you know.
A red head named Sue was sometimes Buffalo’s partner so true,
I loved it because she ate on his ass the whole card game through.

Buffalo Bob loved both of our daughters like they were his own,
We had Thanksgiving and Christmas in Borger til they were grown,
We often went to Amarillo with Buffalo Bob to shop at the mall,
He wore his purple shorts and white top looking so cute to us all.

Buffalo Bob had a son named Chad that was not his double.
Chad was a fun loving young man who sometimes got in trouble,
He probably helped old Bob’s hair to turn just a little bit gray,
But Buffalo Bob loved him dearly until the day he did pass away.

When Buffalo Bob bought a South Fork cabin near my Dads.
We all went to Colorado at the same time and were we so glad.
The sunsets in the evenings up there were something to see,
We all had a ball in those cool mountains, both Buffalo Bob and me.

Buffalo Bob could cook maybe as good as his own sweet mother,
At Colorado, he cooked up trout to a crispy brown like no other.
With those special mountain fried potatoes so nice and crisp,
But those sour dough biscuits of his were to kill for at your own risk.

In the evenings, Buffalo would turn on Haggard and Jones songs.
We would sit out in front of the cabin drinking beer right along,
I remember old Buffalo Bob would kick back listening to country,
And holler loud saying “It just don’t get no better than this” to me.

Buffalo loved his mother with all his heart it was so easy to see,
As she spoiled him as a boy chopping his eggs so completely.
I always told Bob I would give him $10 to eat his eggs not chopping,
But he just could not eat them that way and said he’s not stopping.

We went to Borger to visit Bob and Brenda many times to have fun,
Buffalo once cooked us a big pot of chili at his home on the run,
He got him a bowl that was much to hot for him to possibly eat,
So he sat in on his belly to cool and accidentally fell right asleep.

Buffalo loved “Tootsie” his Brenda so very much, this I know,
Although to others around there strong love did not always show.
When we went to play Bingo together, Buffalo would complain,
Sometimes his constant griping seemed to drive Brenda insane.

We went out to Reds Lounge to drink beer every time we came to stay.
Buffalo and I each played $20 on the jukebox to keep it country,
After a few pitchers, Bob and I did the Fred Shuffle dance there,
We got a standing ovation after our little dance, I really do swear.

Buffalo Bob got a wild hair and bought him a Harley Sportster.
Buffalo didn’t exactly look like a Hell’s Angel or a Bad Mother,
But he did look cool sitting on that thing as proud as can be,
Looking like the “Easy Rider” cruising on down the road so free.

Buffalo Bob and Brenda came to both the weddings of our girls.
At both, he took a picture with my wife Pam looking like a pearl.
They look so good together with both their love just a shining,
It’s easy to see the love they had for each other with smiles aligning.

We sometimes met Buffalo Bob and Brenda at Hard Rock Casino,
We always met at White River Fish Market to eat with Buffalo.
Buffalo loved the Fried Fish Platter with cod, shrimp, and crab,
We had fun with the crab shells acting silly before we paid the tab.

In the rooms at Hard Rock we often had a cool drink or two,
Buffalo downloaded my Spotify playlists to his own phone too.
We listened to honkytonk music sitting there cooling our heels,
Before heading down to gamble a little on the VGT slot reels.

On the last trip we met at the Catoosa Casino way out there,
We took family pictures out near Coweta in the middle of nowhere,
Buffalo got lost on the way and I rode him pretty hard that day,
This was the last pictures we took and the last time we did play.
