Baby Talk

.

I put myself in my own stockings to anticipate my thinking,
When I was a little baby with my little hazel eyes a blinking.
The poem shows what I was thinking before I could speak,
In that cute little body of mine laying there looking so sweet.

Well hello daddy, I’m glad the Navy gave you a leave once more,
To come home to see me during this time our country is at war.
Owwww, l’m having a big gas pain way down deep in my tummy,
Whoops, I squirted and soiled my blankie like a little ole dummy.

Here I am riding in the front seat of our 1936 model Chevrolet,
With my bottle propped up, sucking hard as we go on our way.
My Mom’s got a system that keeps me so happy as we go along,
On my way to my Daddies next Navy Post feeling so strong.

My sister is whispering in my ear as I lie here resting so nice
She said “I love you, but don’t think you will take my place.
I’m the boss here because I got here a long year before you.”
Well Sis, we will just see about that as I’m the baby here too.

Hey Mom, who do you love best between my older sister and me.
I love riding here beside you in my soft little baby basket so free,
I love you so very much and I can tell that you really do love me.
But I wish you wouldn’t have put this girls hat on me for all to see,

Hey, I love taking a bath outdoors in this big old bowl wash tub.
I’ve got a hold of something with my right hand like a grub,
Washing it off to make sure it gets clean like the rest of my body
Wait , it’s not what you’re thinking, it’s my rubber ducky, you see.

Hey, Mom’s fixing food and she left me sitting in my high chair,
She didn’t buckle me in so I might fall on my head down there,
Mom’s been feeding me too much as I am a real fat little booger,
She gives me “Sugar Tits”, or a stick of butter covered in sugar.

The neighbors live on a farm and they have lots of animals here,
Mom left me sitting out here with that chicken giving me a stare,
Mom, he’s headed straight over here to give me a big old peck.
Help, come over and get me out of here Mom, what the heck.

I love that Mom dressed me and sat me outside in the weather,
I love my little wooden painted chair that my Dad put together.
It fits me just right sitting outside here in the great outdoors,
I feel like laughing out loud with the sun on my head that I adore.

Hey, wait a minute, some one left the old red barn door open,
This Billy Goat acts like he may eat me standing there moping.
I think I’ll grab his long black beard and give it a big old tug,
No wait a minute, I will be so gentle and give him a big hug.

I guess I better sit here and be as good as I possibly can be,
As Mom said she will curl my hair some and make it more curly,
Sometimes I think she has so much fun dressing me on up,
To make me look very much like some kid she saw in a book.
